"Are you kidding me?!" I exclaimed, my temper rising. Not only did he keep asking me if he was the father of my child but now he wanted conclusive proof of it. Did he honestly think that I would lie about something like this? Or that I would sleep with Jack when I was engaged?

"Just for reassurance." he said nervously.

"What kind of a person do you think I am?" I frowned.

"And besides he has your bloody eyes!" I added angrily.

"Don't get angry." he sighed as he slowly stood up and walked towards me.

"If you want a DNA test then fine, but you need to leave now." I sighed.

"You want me to go?" he asked sadly.

"Yeah I do, I can't deal with you right now, I'm tired and I want to go to bed." I insisted.

He sighed and gazed at me sadly.

"Mia please." he whispered.

"Just leave!" I shouted, sighing as Cameron awoke and began to cry.

He sighed and reluctantly left the room, as soon as I heard the front door close, I walked over to the cot and picked Cameron up. Tears rolled down my cheeks as I tried to settle him, Daniel's words still echoing around my head. When I'd first laid eyes on him again I wanted nothing more than to be in his arms as he held me tightly, but he didn't trust me. He was constantly having these doubts swirling around his head. If he loved me like he claimed too then he should trust me. There shouldn't be any doubts. Part of me wished that he hadn't returned, then I wouldn't be hurt by his lack of faith in me.

Daniel's POV

Dawn broke and I sighed to myself as I stood up. I'd spent the last few hours sitting on Mia's doorstep, wishing that I was still inside with her. I'd missed her so much over the last few weeks, literally counting down the hours until I could see her again. But as usual I'd ruined everything, the doubts just wouldn't go away. That's why I had asked for the DNA test, to put them to rest once and for all, so that Mia and I could finally be a family. But I hadn't realised how hurt Mia would be when I asked her, she clearly hated that I didn't trust her fully. It was obvious that she had strong feelings for Jack, maybe something had happened between them on more than one occasion or maybe she'd worked out the dates wrong. Either way I had to know for sure whether I was a father or not.

As I continued walking my feet eventually took me back to the apartment that the four of us were staying in whilst we looked for jobs.

"How did it go?" Henley asked as soon as she saw me.

"Pretty well I would say seeing as he stayed the night." Merritt grinned, glancing up from his book.

"It's not like that." I said quietly, pushing Merritt's feet off the sofa and sitting down, causing him to glare at me.

"So what happened?" Henley tried again.

"We had a fight." I sighed, not really wanting to talk about it.

"So where have you been all night?!" Henley exclaimed.

"Sitting on her doorstep thinking about things." I admitted. The more time that I had to think about things, the more concerned I became that maybe, as a result of my doubts, I had lost her forever.

"Did you upset her?" Jack piped up.

"Well she wasn't happy." I replied, glancing at him as he shook his head at me.

"I'll go and check on her." he said quietly as he stood up.

"Jack don't." I said sharply.

"Don't what?" he frowned.

"Don't make things worse by getting involved in things that have nothing to do with you." I warned him.

He scoffed and shook his head as he quickly put on his jacket. I hated the thought of him being there to comfort her. The idea of them becoming close again, whilst I was alone filled me with dread. I couldn't face the thought of losing her to him.

"I mean it Jack, I'll fight for her until my dying breath." I warned him.

"Well then maybe you should stop messing things up." he said shortly, before leaving the apartment, slamming the front door behind himself.

Amelia's POV

A few days had passed since Daniel's visit. It still didn't seem quite real that he was now completely free. He could go anywhere he wanted to go without having to worry about the FBI. I'd barely seen him in the last few days, he clearly felt to guilty to show his face. Jack had barely left my apartment, trying to provide some support and assistance with Cameron. Even though Daniel was free to do what he wanted, I still seemed to be a single parent, desperately trying to do everything alone. Jack's help was invaluable to me. I could only hope that when the results confirmed that Daniel was Cameron's father, he would step up to the plate.

I smiled at Jack as he walked into the room and sat opposite me at the table.

"Look what came." I said quietly, showing him the envelope in my hand. As soon as I laid eyes on the envelope and seen the logo on it, I'd known what it was. The DNA results were finally here.

"It's from the lab." Jack breathed.

I nodded slowly.

"Aren't you going to open it?" he asked.

"Nope, I already know the answer." I said shortly, standing up quickly.

"Where are you going?!" he cried.

"To give the results to Danny." I sighed.

"Can you take care of Cameron for a while?" I quickly added.

'Yeah sure." he nodded.

I smiled my thanks and picked up my keys. Nerves tingled in my stomach as I walked to the horseman's apartment. I hadn't seen Daniel since our argument, he was clearly feeling guilty and had decided to avoid me. Eventually I reached the apartment and knocked slowly on the door. A shadow appeared under the door and I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves.

"Hey Amelia!" Merritt exclaimed as he opened the door.

"Hi." I smiled, gasping in shock as he pulled me into a hug.

"I haven't seen you in so long, how's the baby?" he asked me when he eventually let go of me.

"He's fine, is Danny around?" I asked quickly, not really in the mood for a catch up with him.

"No, he's gone into town." he answered.

"Okay, can you give him this when he gets back." I said, handing him the letter.

"Sure." he replied.

I nodded and quickly left, desperate to get home and check on my son. Even though I trusted Jack to take care of him, I preferred to take care of Cameron myself. As I walked home, I smiled slightly to myself. Daniel would soon see the results and know that Cameron was his son...everything would be solved....or so I thought...
