Daniel's POV

I gasped and gazed at Mia in numb shock as the blood poured out of her and she collapsed. Jack gently lowered her to the ground and glanced at me, a terrified expression on his face.

"I'm calling 911!" Henley exclaimed, quickly pulling her phone out of her pocket.

"You can't do that, she'll be taken in for questioning." Merritt said quickly.
"We don't have a choice, Amy is in another city and she clearly needs medical attention." Henley argued.

"I'll do it." Jack said quickly, snatching the phone from Henley and leaving the room to call the ambulance.

I gently placed Cameron safely on the sofa and rushed over to Mia's lifeless form, kneeling down beside her.

"I don't understand what's happening!" I exclaimed as I lifted her head and placed it on my knees.

"She must have had a post partum haemorrhage." Henley said, sitting next to me and kindly placing her hand on my knee, in an attempt to provide some comfort.

"A what?" I frowned.

"I don't know much about it but I know that women sometimes have a haemorrhage after giving birth." she explained.

"I can't lose her Henley." I whispered as I gazed down at the love of my life, feeling completely helpless.

"I know Daniel." she whispered back.

"I'll go to the hospital with her." she offered.

"No, I should go." I said quickly.

"You could get recognised." she pointed out.

"Yeah but so could you." I countered.

"I'm an escapologist it'll be easier for me to escape if necessary." she replied.

"That's not the point, she needs me." I muttered.

"The baby needs you and we need to do what keeps all of us safe." she pointed out.

I sighed and fell silent, carefully considering her words. As much as I hated the thought of leaving Mia's side when she needed me, I knew that Henley was right. Even though the thought of being away from Mia filled me with dread, I had to do what was right for my family.

"I hate this, I wish I'd never tried to get into the eye, then we could live a normal life." I sighed.

"If you hadn't followed the card, it wouldn't have brought the two of you together again." she pointed out.

"Yeah and since she's been with me, she's been in danger and it's all my fault." I said sadly.

We instantly stopped talking as we heard sirens approaching the house. The door burst open and two paramedics burst in, glancing at us before rushing over to Mia.

"Okay so what happened?" one of them asked as they examined her.

I opened my mouth to answer but no sound would come out, my throat was too dry.

"She had a severe haemorrhage and then she lost consciousness." Jack piped up as he knelt down next to her. I'd been so busy worrying about Mia that I hadn't even noticed him come back into the room.

"And how long ago did this happen?" they asked.

"About ten minutes ago." Jack replied.
"Is that her baby?" they asked gesturing to where Cameron was sleeping happily on the sofa.

Jack nodded and watched as they continued examining her.

"How long ago was the birth?" they asked.

"He was born at 5:18 am." I whispered, finally finding my voice.

The paramedics nodded, gently picked her up and placed her onto a stretcher.

"We need to get her to hospital now." one of them stated sounding worried.

I slowly stood up and leant over the stretcher, gazing down at Mia's motionless face. I ignored the tears that were slowly rolling down my cheeks and gently brushed my lips against hers.

"I love you." I whispered. I had no idea if she could hear me, but I liked to think that she could.

"Take care of her, I can't lose her." I said quietly.

"You can come with her if you want?" he offered.

"I can't." I whispered.

"I'll go." Henley said quickly.

My heart broke a little as I watched them place Mia into the back of the ambulance and Henley climb in the back after her. As happy as I was that she would have Henley to take care of her, I couldn't help but wish that it was me in the back of the ambulance with her. They quickly drove away, the sirens blaring as they rushed my fiancée to the hospital.

As soon as she left I closed the front door and rested my back against it, gently sliding down it and sitting on the floor. I placed my head in my hands and began to sob quietly. What should have been a happy moment with our son was tarnished with the fact that she was now in danger. I couldn't lose her, she was my life. She meant everything to me, I'd never loved anyone as much as I love her.

Amelia's POV

Warm tears rolled down my cheeks as I sat and processed what the doctor had just told me. I needed Daniel here to hold me and tell me that everything would be okay. Even though I knew that Henley was just outside the room, she didn't come close to Daniel.

"I'm afraid it's our only option." the Doctor told me.

I nodded slowly. Even though I knew that I had no choice that didn't stop the dread. Nothing would ever be the same again after this.

"We need to do the surgery as soon as possible." he insisted.

"Just do it." I agreed, closing my eyes tightly, desperately wishing that I would awaken from this nightmare...that none of this was happening.
