I stretched and slowly sat up, trying not to disturb Mia as she slept soundly, her head resting against my stomach. Something had awoke me but I had no idea what it was. I quickly rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and gazed around the room, jumping slightly as I saw Jack sitting in the chair beside the bed.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to wake you." he said quietly.

"It's fine, what's up?" I asked.

"Nothing, I just wanted to see how she's doing." he answered.

"She's doing good." I whispered, gently tracing circles on her arm. I gazed down at her and smiled to myself. She was so beautiful that I almost couldn't believe that she was mine.

"I heard that you got engaged." he said quietly.

'Yeah." I replied.

"We might be having a baby together too." I added.

"What?!" he exclaimed.

"I don't know for sure yet, but she whispered that she's pregnant before she fainted. I don't even know if it's true, she might have been delirious." I explained.

"Did she say it was your baby?" he asked casually.

"No, but she wouldn't sleep with anyone else, so it must be." I said quickly.

Jack's POV

My heart was pounding against my chest as I thought about what Daniel had just told me. He clearly had no idea that Amelia and I had spent a night together a few weeks ago...she clearly hadn't told him. Was it possible that she was pregnant and if so was the baby mine? I longed to ask her these questions but I knew that I had to pretend for her sake that none of this had happened. As I watched her sleeping, gently resting her head on Daniel's stomach, I felt a sudden urge to reach out and touch her. I'd have given anything to be the one holding her tightly as she slept. In all my years of dating, I'd never loved anyone as much as I loved Amelia. If only she hadn't begun dating Daniel again, I could have made her mine. Then I would get to be the one to take care of her and comfort her when she needed it.

"I think she feels something for you." Daniel stated, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Don't be ridiculous." I protested quietly.

"It's obvious by the way she looks at you, your presence makes her happy." he insisted.

"I'm just her friend." I sighed.

"It's more than that, you were the first one she told about what happened to her." he argued.

"I think she just had too much to drink that night." I chuckled.

"It's more than that, she cares about you." he told me.

I shrugged and quickly looked away from him. Part of me wondered if he knew how I felt about her. She had admitted that she loved me, but she still chose Daniel. It seemed that he had nothing to worry about. My eyes wandered back to her as she slept, lingering on her bare stomach from where Amy had cut her t-shirt. The creamy white of her skin made me long to touch her...get a grip Jack! I told myself over and over again.

Amelia's POV

I stirred gently and slowly opened my eyes, trying to focus my eyes in the bright sunlight. I sat up quickly, yelping as I felt a searing pain in my abdomen.

"Slowly." I heard Daniel's voice.

I smiled as he gently manoeuvred me so that I was sitting up, my back resting gently against him as he sat behind me. The warmth from his chest radiated against my back and I felt comforted by being able feel his soft heartbeat.

"What happened?" I asked, as I glanced down at what appeared to be a large wound on my lower left abdomen.

"You were shot by the FBI." Daniel told me.

"What...why?" I frowned.

"I don't know, I wasn't with you, we'd split up." he answered.

"Why did you try and run, you should have stayed hidden?" Jack piped up.

"I was looking for you guys, I wanted to make sure that you were safe." I said thoughtfully, recalling the events that lead to me getting shot.

"But you almost died!" Jack exclaimed.

Both Daniel and I turned to face him, the two of us equally surprised by his outburst.

"Just stick to the plan next time." he added before standing up and quickly walking away.
