I couldn't sleep that night. I kept tossing and turning.

I felt guilty.

Not because I ate, but because I threw my food up. I betrayed Carter.

I felt sick. He was always trying to help me, trying to make me better. I wasn't even trying.

I turned again.

No, this was enough. I needed to see him.

I got up and looked at the time. 2:16. I closed the windows and got out my phone. Carter had given me his number a while ago. We had texted a little but not much. I scrolled through my many contacts before I clicked on his number. My parents gave my phone to me before they died. My whole former life was on there, contacts, social medias, pictures, and videos.

"Hello?" I heard a groggy voice say.

"Carter?"

"Yeah, Emily? What's up? Why are you calling me in the middle of the night?" he asked concerned. I could hear he was starting to wake up more.

"Uhm, can I see you? I know it's late, but I need to talk to you," I said and waited nervously for his answer.

"Yes, of course! Uhm, I'll be at your house in... I don't know... like 30 minutes?"

"Okay, thank you, bye," I said and hung up. I got up and went to brush my teeth.

When I got back to my room I looked at my clothes, I should probably change. I grabbed my jeans and a sweatshirt. That will do. I got my hair out of the ponytail and brushed through it with my fingers. I looked fine.

I got out my phone and waited for Carter.

Carter: I'm here

My phone buzzed and I looked at the text. I quickly went downstairs and locked myself out; I didn't lock the door behind me, though.

I ran to Carter's car and got in.

"Hey," I said and he smiled at me.

"Hey, what's up?" he asked.

"I'll tell you, can we go to the park maybe?" he nodded and drove.

I looked at Carter; he was so cute. He was wearing gray sweatpants and a V-neck dark gray t-shirt. It was clear he had just gotten out of bed. His hair was too all messy. He still looked really good, though.

When we reached the park we both got out and started walking.

"Okay, what was it you needed to talk to me about?" Carter asked once we had walked in silence for a while.

"Uhm, promise me you won't hate me," he gave me a look and shook his head.

"I could never hate you, Emily," he said and gave me a small smile. I nodded and blushed a little.

"When I got home today, after our dinner, I went to take a shower," I started.

"Okay," Carter said.

"And when I took off my clothes I looked at myself in the mirror," I looked at him and he was looking concerned.

Like he knew.

"And then what?" he said gently.

"I saw my face were getting fuller, and my body... Uhm... It wasn't as thin I guess," I said and took a large breath.
