Emily's Escape

Chapter 25

As we stepped outside a group of guys were standing out there, and it looked like they were waiting for Carter, Tyler, and Max.

"Carter, let's end this right now," a guy said. He stepped forward and it appeared to be Nick. Carter sighed and he pushed me a bit backwards so he was shielding me.

"Em, please, stay out of this and keep yourself in the background," he whispered and squeezed my hand. I whispered  'okay' and stepped entirely behind him. I kissed his back in confirmation. Carter stepped forward and I saw his fists clenching.

"Nick, let's not do this right now, please," Carter said in front of me. Nick scoffed, obviously not pleased with Carter's proposition. The other guys all moved closer.

"You don't want that bitch of yours to see you get beaten up?" Nick spat. I flinched a little at his tone. I gripped onto Carter's sweatshirt for comfort.

"As I recall, you were the one getting beat up just an hour ago," Max said and chuckled. Was he not afraid? They were five against three. Though two of Nick's guys were pretty small; they could probably take them out easily.

"This time, it's no rules, everything is fair game. And I-"

"Nick, shut the fuck up, you wanna fight, let's fight," Carter interrupted Nick in his sentence. Nick seemed pleased with the answer and nodded.

He stepped a step to the side and shut his head out for me to see. "Maybe you would want to fuck off, I don't want to hit on girls," Nick said with a nauseating smirk. He looked down my body and laughed. "Shit, Carter, you should just date a little boy if you like your hoes like that; she's skinnier than the Jews." I felt Carter shifting his weight and he flexed all of the muscles in his body; he was pissed.

"Man, you don't know what you just gotten yourself into," Tyler said with a small chuckle. Carter stepped closer to Nick, making my hands slide off him. I wanted him to keep me safe, I was scared.

"Oh, I touched a sore spot? Just like she'll be tomorrow, sore, that is," Nick said and winked my way. I felt literally sick to my stomach.

Carter seemed to feel the same. He stepped forward and grabbed Nick by the collar and pulled him to him. "You better shut the fuck up before I'll break your teeth on the mother fucking curb."

I had never seen Carter like this. He was so angry and... in that moment, I was actually a little scared of him. Seeing this side of him, a side I had never seen before. I knew he would never act this way towards me, and that Nick pushed buttons to get this side out of him, but it was Carter who had just said those words. Not Nick. 

"Yeah? But you know I'll still make that bitch spread her legs for me later tonight," Nick said and spit Carter in the face. Carter threw Nick to the ground and dried of the spit with his sleeve.

"Oh, shit, he really shouldn't have done that," Max said and got closer to Carter. Carter was standing over Nick with his shoulders rising and falling with each breath. I could tell he was angry, so fucking angry.

Carter turned around and walked away but Nick rose and ran after him with his fist ready for a punch. Without a word Carter turned around and punched Nick right on the jaw. And so it all broke lose. Max and Tyler fought some of the guys and Carter fought two as well. I just stood far away griping my sweater. I saw Carter knocking out one of the smaller guys and then being kicked to the ground by Nick. He was kicking him in the stomach and I also saw a kick going right to the face. I flinched and turned away from it all.

When I looked again Carter was sitting on top of Nick punching him over and over again. When he felt he had had enough, Carter got off him and turned to help Max and Tyler. They fought until another guy was knocked out and the others ran away. I quickly reached Carter and saw that his nose was bleeding. He was also developing a black eye. It was probably from the kick to the face Nick had given him. I could hear Nick groaning on the ground in the distance, so did the other guy.
