Emily's POV
After seven long months, our wedding day was finally tomorrow.
Planning a wedding had been harder than I would've thought. We had originally wanted a simple low-key wedding with our closest friends and family, but that idea was unacceptable to Carter's mother. She was already so upset the proposal had taken so long and she really needed to have her way with our wedding. Apparently our relationship was important to everyone and therefor we had to invite everyone.
Our wedding situation was now a church wedding, 280 guests, and a big venue afterwards with dinner, wine, and a band. It had quickly blown way out of proportion. I had to admit it was fun to plan, but it cost way too much and wasn't really what either one of us wanted. We only did it for his parents, and that was a sacrifice we were both willing to make. They had been very respectful of us doing everything our own way, so we owed them one.
"Emmi?" Flora's voice woke me up and as I opened my eyes, I found her standing in my doorway. I smiled at her and she walked to my bed.
"So, are you ready?" We had a full day planned with appointments. The mere thought exhausted me, but I had no choice. Plus, I wanted to look and feel nice for my wedding.
"Give me the plan once more." She rolled her eyes with a smile.
"First we have a hot yoga class, then the spa where we also get facials, then waxing, then nails, then hair, and lastly we will get our eyelash fills. Sounds good?" I sighed and nodded. Hot yoga was the last thing I wanted right now. I hadn't been able to sleep so fine the last couple of nights. Carter wasn't here to cuddle me and keep me warm. His mother was very superstitious and wouldn't allow him to see me, not only 24 hours, but a full week before the wedding. I had been miserable was it not for Flora's company.
We were in the car on our way to hot yoga, when it dawned upon me: I was getting married. To Carter Woods. The whole concept was hard to understand and frankly, it still sometimes felt like a dream. We had been together for so long now that it was hard to imagine our relationship going to 'the next level'. For years it had felt like we were as close as possible, but I guess marriage was a nice upgrade.
"I don't care about your day off, we have an agreement that you'll come and damp the dresses and tuxes, so that's what you will be doing tomorrow." Flora paused on the phone. She was my maid of honor and she took the job seriously. "Then you'll have to move that appointment to later. We're not asking a lot from you right now. A few hours in the morning and then you can get your day off. Thank you, we appreciate it," she said and hung up. She caught my eyes and rolled them.
"The seamstress called me to tell she wasn't coming in tomorrow since it was her weekly day off. Tomorrow, the day of the wedding, do you think she's actually insane? The day of the wedding. She need to dampen our clothes and make sure nothing goes wrong with our clothing," Flora said in an amazed voice.
"I see your point, though we could've just gotten a replacement."
"No, we could not. Her company sowed the dresses; therefor she's the most qualified for the job. I don't care what she has to cancel to be there."
With that our conversation was over and soon later we arrived at the hot yoga class. In what world was a fitness class a step in preparing for a wedding? Though I had to admit it would be great to sweat our some stress and get a work our in. The wedding had made me a little self-conscious and I desperately wanted to reach my goal for the wedding.
"Have you lost weight?" Flora asked as we changed in the changing rooms. I looked at my self in the mirror close to us. No?
"I don't think so, no." Flora looked at me with the familiar eyes.
