Although you had met Remus when you were at Hogwarts together, and you both knew about each other's interests, but nothing really came from it. A short lived romance blossomed for what felt like a moment, but you were pulled apart with the deaths of your friends James and Lily (granted you thought Peter was dead but with hindsight you knew the truth) along with the accusation of Sirius' guilt.
Remus believed Sirius was behind it all, and although you didn't agree with him, you could see where he was coming from. But it tore you apart. You stood by Sirius' side no matter how guilty he seemed as you knew he could never hurt James and Lily.
Since that day you didn't speak to each other. Not until Remus contacted you apologising when Sirius was shown to be innocent when they found Peter alive.
Even though that was a huge obstacle for you guys to overcome, you did. Granted it was less overcoming your differences and more Sirius locking you in a room together but now you were engaged, and you were happier than you ever thought you could be.
Finally you'd found a place that the two of you could live in, that had somewhere that Remus could use for full moons. You'd spent the day moving in everything you had, but as far as you'd gotten with actually sorting out your home was having the mattress thrown on the floor, and unpacking the crockery and cutlery so that you could eat the take away you'd ordered for dinner.
Carrying all the boxes in (even with the help of some friends) had tired the two of you out, so you went to bed, well the mattress on the floor, relatively early.
Remus lay on his back, with you leaning your head on his chest, and one of his arms cradled under your neck. You were on your side with one arm curled around his, and the other slung over him, just glad to be cuddled up with him, even if that happened to be in a house that was filled with boxes and you were technically sleeping on the floor with the bed frame taunting the two of you lining the wall in pieces.
You had been talking for what felt like an eternity, but you were sure it had actually only been an hour or so.
"I still cannot believe I can finally hold you in my arms, in our home and everything seems perfect," Remus said softly.
"How long do you think it will last?" You laughed looking up at him.
Not that you wanted to be cynical, but whenever anything finally felt as though it was working, it meant that it would be destroyed instantly by something, anything.
"I don't know. However with everything going on, and the chance of getting Sirius and Harry taking over our spare rooms when it's set up, I think we should just accept our happiness," he shrugged kissing your hair.
"Oh yeah. I remember you agreeing with them to let them move in. Didn't you want to discuss that with me?" You sighed.
"You know what Harry goes through. You want to send him back there longer than he needs to?"
You propped yourself up on your elbow, looking into his eyes although the room was dimly lit.
"I didn't mean Harry. I'd have built all the furniture for his room today if you'd asked me to. I meant Sirius. You owe him for blaming him, I owe him nothing. Especially my home. I love the man, believe me, however he is a pain in the arse," you frowned.
"Can't argue with you there."
You fell back into his arms letting out a sigh. Silence fell over the room for a short while before you broke it.
"I need a drink," you stated.
"Go get one?" He said sounding slightly confused by your bluntness in your statement.
"Oh... um..." you mumbled.
Yes you were an adult. Yes you were a fairly powerful witch. Yes you were engaged to a werewolf that had full capability to kill you. But yes you were terrified of the dark, well not the dark, but what could be lurking in the dark.
"What's wrong?" He questioned.
"Can you come with me? I'm scared," you whispered hesitantly.
Remus knew everything about you but you were still scared that he would think you were stupid for such a menial fear.
"You're scared?" He asked genuinely concerned. "Of what love?"
"I don't like the dark. I don't like whatever is in the dark. After James and Lily, I don't know. I know it's irrational. Don't worry I'll go on my own," you stated moving to stand from the mattress.
As you went to stand up, Remus grasped your wrist stopping you from leaving.
"How are you scared of the dark, but you are engaged to a werewolf?" He laughed softly.
"You wear cardigans and iron your socks, you really don't scare me love," you shrugged with a soft smile on your face.
He rolled his eyes at you standing up with you, looking down at you, pressing his lips to yours.
"You have spent too much time with Sirius, Y/N," he chuckled. "I love you though."
"Love you too."
