Although your love for Christmas was beyond compare, this year you would have wished to pass the day rather than have to experience the hell you had to be a part of.

You didn't expect to be sat in your living room eating Chinese food on Christmas day, that wasn't what you had first anticipated to happen today.

Originally you had invited your boyfriend Sirius over for a festive meal. Of course, with him coming along it meant he'd drag Remus along too and as you didn't want to leave the new parents out of the whole shebang you had also invited James, Lily and baby Harry to share the wonderfully non-snowy day.

You weren't the best cook in the world but you had made the nicest meal you possibly could for the group of you.

It was a blast at first, you had all sat down talking about how life had been since you'd all last seen each other. You all doted on Harry, him being the newest marauder, however that did lead to being questioned pointedly about when you and Sirius were going to have a child of your own, not that you'd made any plans.

As soon as you'd served the food, you had all pulled your crackers, putting on your paper crowns so you all looked rightfully idiotic as was expected of anyone on Christmas day. However, that was step one to the downfall of Christmas.

In the mix of excited conversation Sirius' hat fell from his head, landing into the flames of one of the candles you had set in the centre of the table. It did take you all a moment to notice where the smell of burning had come from, but it led to frantic reaction.

Lily jumped to Harry to make sure he wouldn't get hurt, whilst the other four of you did your best to try to solve the issue, with only Remus actually successfully settling the blaze.

By the time the fire had been put out, it had already wrecked enough of the table and the food that had been laid on top of it that it wasn't sanitary or reasonable to continue the meal there.

Having wasted most of your food on the meal there really wasn't anything left to create a sustainable dinner for the group meaning the only thing possible for you to do with to get food in to eat. Seen as it being Christmas day it meant that everything was closed other than the small Chinese takeaway around the corner where you sent Sirius and Remus to retrieve you all a half decent meal.

The meal had become a disaster however even if it wasn't a conventionally festive meal, just being with the people you loved most in the world you were happy to be there.
