Everything that was occurring was a nightmare, nothing was right or normal. Everyone from Slytherin that you had known was gone, they had fled the castle never to be heard from again not due to the war occurring especially due to the battle that was in the midst at Hogwarts. You threw hexes as you made your way through the crowds of fighting people, doing your best to protect your fellow students and defeat the death eaters who were slowly encroaching on the castle.

You were only looking for one person, of course you cared for everyone here, but you had a girl you cared about too much and needed to make sure she was okay.

Off in the distance you saw the mess of frizzy hair, backing her way towards a wall, a man in a dark cloak getting closer and closer. Spells flew between each other, but you could see the girl was struggling. She may have been the brightest witch of her age, but no one was prepared for this, especially students. Even if she knew everything possible, the dark arts were always there to surprise anyone fighting it.

As you got closer you raised your wand once more screaming with all of your might, allowing a light to strike the man knocking him to the floor.

Her eyes snapped to yours.

"Y/N," she whispered before quickly shooting a hex to another nearby death eater.

"Hermione, are you okay?" You asked frantically brushing your hand over her arm attempting to show her that you cared without taking your mind off of the fight you were having to survive in, or distract her from the task ahead.

"I thought you had left," she said softly. "The rest of the Slytherin left, I thought you had gone with them."

You shook your head at her, not understanding how she could imagine you were like your house. Yes, you were a Slytherin, however you agreed with the values of the order and didn't run away from what you deemed right.

"I may be a Slytherin but I am not weak willed enough to follow blindly away from what I think," you stated trying to throw hexes at the threats.

She let out a weak sigh. "I'm sorry... I didn't mean it like that. I just couldn't find you... and I hoped you'd left... not that... you know... it happened."

Even though everything going around you was horrific, you couldn't help but smile that she was worried about you.

"It's okay."

"Thank you by the way. Thank you for saving me," she smiled weakly.

"Anytime."
