Life seemed almost perfect. It was a dream come true. A lovely cosy home, it wasn't huge or lavish, but it was home. It was quaint and had a lot of land and potential for the future, but most importantly it was the home of you and your boyfriend, making it far more perfect. Your husband worked for the ministry of magic, although it didn't pay a lot he enjoyed his job and it was enough to survive. Life was coming together for the two of you, and you hoped that soon there would be an opportunity for you to be a real family and allow it to grow.
Most nights you would cook dinner in the quaint kitchen for your boyfriend for when he got home from work, but today was his day off so things were a little different. Arthur had insisted on you not cooking, as he wanted to make you something. You knew it wasn't a great idea seen as he couldn't cook at well at all, but he looked so excited to make dinner that you couldn't bring yourself to say no, you'd just have to stomach the food provided.
Arthur sent you away from the kitchen demanding space and that he wanted dinner to be a surprise. You did call to him often to see if he was okay as he had shouted a couple of times as though he was in pain or something went wrong and you had smelt a fair bit of burning.
Hours after your banishment, Arthur called you to the dining table announcing that dinner was ready. You made your way in to see a small candle lit in the middle of your old dining table with two plates of food either side. Arthur's face was red with clear remnants of sweat stuck to his ginger hair.
All of the food on the table didn't really look like they should go together and possibly not accurately cooked as it should have been.
"Thank you, Arthur," you smiled warmly, pressing a gentle kiss to his freckled cheek.
"Y-you're welcome," he whispered, stumbling over his words.
"Are you okay?" You asked trying to give him a reassuring smile.
He seemed nervous, which wasn't completely uncommon but you had no idea why he would be nervous is this situation.
Arthur simply nodded his head, gesturing for you to take a seat.
The two of you sat at the table and begun to eat. It didn't taste great but you weren't going to tell him that. Arthur had tried hard. You noticed that he had barely eaten anything, and had been moving it around his plate with his fork.
"Arthur, are you okay, my Love?" You asked, genuinely concerned about what was wrong.
"Um... well... I... um... can I... ask you... ask you something?" He asked, stumbling a lot over his words.
"Of course, Arthur. You can ask me anything."
He cleared his throat, twiddling his fingers nervously.
"Hypothetically speaking, what would you say if I asked you to marry me?" He smiled softly even though nerves were evident in his words.
You couldn't help but grin at him. Did he want to marry you? Of course, you wanted to marry him, you always had, and you always would want that.
"I'd say yes of course," you smiled wider than you deemed possible.
His nerves washed over him as he pulled out a small box, moving to one knee next to the table. Opening it, it revealed a very simple ring, that you deemed the most beautiful he could have ever bought you.
"Well then, will you marry me?" He smiled.
You leaned down to cup his face with your hands. You pressed your lips to his sweetly.
"Of course, I love you Arthur Weasley."
"I love you too Y/N Weasley."
