Chapter 8

About eight the next morning, he finally got up off his chair and headed upstairs to wake the kids up. After they were changed and feed, he headed to his office to call Paula. He hoped that she would be up right now but he didn't want to wake her up if she was sleeping. In the past he had to hold the phone to his ear so that he couldn't hang up on her, but this time he just waited until she picked up.

As soon as she picked up, he started to ask her how she and the girls were doing. Then he asked her to watch Dylan again and like always she approved. She couldn't see him but if she could, she would have seen the huge smile that appeared on his face after she accepted to help him. Within an hour of talking to each other, he was on her porch with Dylan to his right while holding his daughter in his arms.

"Hey Dylan, the girls are upstairs," Paula sad as she made eye contact with him.

"Okay thank you ma'am. Dad save your breath I know what you are going to say. I'll be good and listen. Bye and I love you both," Dylan said before disappearing upstairs.

"We love you too," Simon replied smiling. "Thanks for watching him."

"No problem, have a good appointment."

"Thanks."

He shook her hand and she left something fell in her palm. She looked down to see a hundred dollar bill laying there.

"I can't take this, Si."

"Of course you can, I love you."

He leaned in and kissed her on her check.

"What was that for?"

"I love you and you mean a lot to me."

"I feel the same way."

As she closed the door she was still in shock. She was left with a lot of questions than answers. Why did he just kiss her? Does he truly love her and care about her? Was their love meant to be? These were all very good questions that she longed to know the answers to but not now, maybe later.

After the session was over, he surprised her when he drove up to her favorite toy store.

When they got into the store, he set her down and let her use her crunches to the toy that she wanted. She picked out a teddy bear that was almost twice her height. After he paid for the bear, she held it tight until they got to the house. She decided to bring it in because she was very proud of her accomplishment. As he rang the door bell she put the bear down on the porch because it was getting a little bit heavy in her little arms.

"Hey guys, how did the appointment go?" Paula asked.

"Great, she can walk without any help!" Simon replied smiling. "So was Dylan good?"

"Wow, how exciting! Yep he's a good kid," Paula replied smiling. "So was this a present for walking?" she continued as she got closer to her.

Rochelle just nodded.

"Dad, when are we going home?" Dylan asked rubbing his eye.

"We will leave soon, son. But first I need to speak with Holly and Lily's Mum, okay?" Simon said getting down on his level.

He just nodded. And with that, Simon grabbed her hand and they disappeared into the kitchen.

"Okay what's going on here?" Dylan asked very confused.

"I don't know, but who wants to come find out with me?" Holly asked wanting to have an adventure.

"Let's go sis," Lily grabbing her sister's arm and getting down and low by the kitchen counter.
