When they arrived, Lorraine was waiting on the pathway to the front door. They got out she came closer to them. She and Paula exchanged greetings and embraced before they girls came up and hugged their grandma.
"Mom, this is my boyfriend, Simon."
As she got closer to Simon, she could just tell that something was different about him. She didn't know what would make him unique but she loved it. She also loved that her daughter picked someone as great as this man. She didn't know him but was looking forward to getting to know him and hoped that he would be a great addition to the family.
"Hello, it's good to finally meet you. She can't stop talking about you."
"Likewise, but seriously, she can't stop talking about me?"
"Yes it's adorable. So who are these lovely children?"
"This is my son Dylan and my daughter Rochelle. She is Holly and Lily's grand mum and mum's mother."
They were nervous so they just smiled and shook her hand.
"Come on kids, dinner's ready."
"Okay guys take mental notes," Dylan replied, in a low voice.
"Papa, I've missed you!!" Holly said wrapping her arms around his neck.
"Hey I've missed you too, princess." Harry replied grinning as he lifted his granddaughter off of the ground.
She had a huge smile on her face as she embraced him.
"Oh there's my Lily bug!!"
"Hi Papa!"
"Who is your friend?"
"This is my brother, Dylan. His Dad is Mommy's boyfriend."
"Nice to meet you son, come on kids dinner's ready."
Holly, Lily and Dylan sat on the right side of the dining room table. But Rochelle sat in the middle between Simon and Paula since she needed help eating. During dinner they talked about what they had been up to since they last had gotten together. After dinner the kids went outside to teach their older siblings how to play some well- known American sports. This left the adults to sit in the living room and chat about a few topics. Some of the things that were discussed was Paula and Simon's relationship and why the kids referred to them as 'Mom' and 'Dad'. They also talked briefly about their living situation. Paula told her parents about how Rob had come back and how Simon let them move in with him. They were glad that she had fled and hoped that he would never return again.
"Come on let's go to the backyard and watch the kids play," Lorraine said standing up from her spot on the couch.
Throughout their time outside, Holly and Lily had to teach their siblings how to play sports such as football, basketball, a little bit of volleyball, and an introduction to baseball. They spent some time going over the rules so that they knew how to play some of the known American sports. When the adults came outside they were in the middle of playing a nice and slow game of soccer so that Rochelle could play as well. The teams were Holly and Lily against Dylan and Rochelle. In the end of the game, even though that Dylan and his sister had the upper hand, they lost. Lily but mostly Holly started to talk smack even though it was all for fun and they were kidding around anyway.
While Simon and Paula were watching their kids interact, he was trying to get her to his on his lap. She would if her parents weren't there so she declined his request. He didn't like the response that she had just given him so he started tickling her underneath the table. A few minutes she began to squeal which had gotten her parents' full attention. She acted as if nothing had happened and when they turned to look back at the kids again, she smacked him on his right shoulder, which was appropriate for his behavior. He gave her a sad face and tried to make her feel bad that she had hit him. But she rolled her eyes before she grinned while watching the kids play around. Paula thought that she had gotten away with not apologizing to Simon but she was wrong. He picked her up off of her seat by grabbing her hips with his strong hands. Then he led her to his chair before he sat back down.
