Meanwhile back at the house, Julie had kept the kids busy so that they had no time to miss their parents. They had spent the morning playing a lot of hands of go-fish. After eating lunch outside around the patio table, the kids helped their Grandma clean the kitchen up before making cookies. Julie had enjoyed making cookies with her children when they were around the kids' ages and even younger than that. All of a sudden, the door bell rang. She wasn't expecting anyone today. So she looked through the peek hole to find that another one of her sons had decided to surprise her with a visit. She invited the children to come to the door with her.

"I have a surprise for you."

She opened the door slowly for the suspension to rise. When Dylan and Rochelle saw who was standing there, they couldn't stop smiling. It was their favorite Uncle. He was their favorite because he was like a second Dad to them. When the twins were infants, while Simon was trying to figure out his new life without Amy, Nick had stepped in and helped his Mom raise them in their first few years of life.

Both Rochelle and Dylan were so excited to see him that they ran straight into his arms. He picked them up and walked through the door frame while his Mom closed the door behind him. He let them go, a few minutes later. Holly and Lily were confused about who this man was.

"Uncle Nick these are my new sisters, Holly and Lily. Their Mum will be our new Mum soon. Daddy just popped the question a few nights ago," Dylan said getting him up to speed.

"Hello girls, nice to meet you," Nick said smiling and putting out his hand.

"It's nice to meet you, sir," Lily replied smiling and shaking his hand.

"Oh please call me Uncle Nick. I'll be your Uncle soon," he said still smiling.

"So are you and Dad twins?" Holly asked curious.

"No I'm his younger brother," he explained to the girls.

"But you could pass for twins. You look and sound exactly the same," Holly replied.

"Thank you sweetheart!" he said winking and smiling at her.

"Hey Uncle Nick wanna make cookies with us?" Dylan asked.

"Sure I'll be there in a minute, lad," Nick said. "So Mum where is Simon?"

"Oh he's having a day alone with his bride-to-be, Paula."

"I can't wait to meet her."

"They should be home within the hour."

He nodded as he walked into the kitchen where the kids were in the middle of rolling the dough into smaller balls. He then grabbed the silver spoon resting in the chocolate chip cookie dough bowl. He scooped some onto a spoon and straight into his mouth. He looked down and saw that Lily had been watching him the entire time. Her mouth hung low, surprised that he would do something like that. He placed his index finger up to his lips hoping she would keep this between them and wouldn't tell on him.

Just then the buzzer went off. All three girls rushed over to the oven to see how the cookies turned out. Dylan, being their protective brother, rushed over to whee they were. He got there just in time to save them from getting burned. He then guided his sisters over to the breakfast table so that their Grandma could retrieve the the trays from the hot oven. She placed the hot trays on the island which was currently covered with hot pads. Then she walked over to the hot oven, placed the next tray in and set the timer for ten minutes. She also set the microwave timer to seven minutes.

"Okay when the timer on the microwave goes off, you can help yourselves to a cookie, alright?"

"Thanks Grandma!" Dylan said smiling and answering for his sisters too. They were drooling over the amazing aroma that freshly baked cookies brought.
