Paula smiled at her daughter. "How's your leg feeling, sweetie?" she asked concerned.

"Okay I just needed to rest, I'm better now," Holly said.

"That's good. But um in the future please let Dad or I know that you need to rest. It's the nice thing to do. Neither one of us wants you to overdo it, but don't just take off. I know this time Sydney helped you to your room, but she won't always be here when you need to stretch."

"Okay, is that it?" Holly asked, hoping there wasn't more. She wasn't in the mood to have a deep conversation with her mother.

"No we need to talk about what happened at our family meeting. Um why are you clinging to Rob? He wasn't a good Dad. I know he helped me create you, but doesn't mean that he's a good man. I think you loved the idea of him, but baby, you don't want to know him, trust me. There's a saying that goes like any man can make a baby, but it takes a special man to be a father. You and Lily are so lucky to have a man in your life that didn't create you, but treats you like you are his own daughter. Simon is a good man and father."

Holly looked at her comforter. "I just didn't want him to steal Rob's place in my heart. But was Rob ever a good man?" she asked, while looking at her mother.

"Well when I first met him, he was very romantic, caring and sweet. Then he started drinking and he made bad decisions. He wasn't the type of father I envisioned for my children. But you have an opportunity that a lot of people don't get the chance to have, another father. Simon is the type of Dad that you want and need. When you're older you'll understand what I mean," she said truthfully.

"Okay Mom. I uh need you to give me an honest answer please."

"Yes sweetie?"

"Um did Rob ever love me?"

"Well..."

"Mom."

"Are you sure that you can handle the truth?"

"Yes."

"Okay um no he didn't. He only wanted sons."

"Oh. So why didn't he leave after I was born?"

"He told me that I had another chance to give him a son. Then Lily was born and I honestly hadn't heard about him since he tried to steal you girls from me about a year ago. But we don't have to worry about him ever again. There was an accident last night that Rob caused and it killed Josh's birth mother, Terri, and Rob instantly. So now Josh is your little brother."

"Oh wow. So I'm stuck with having Simon as my Dad now huh?" she asked with a smirk.

"In a way yeah I guess. Look I understand that you two are very stubborn, but you need to work on your relationship with him. I'm also full aware that you two love control, but you need to start giving him more power. I appreciate that you have been protecting Lily and I for years, but now please let Simon protect you too. I know that you're scared because you think he'll just leave us too, but he's different. He's here for the long haul. He loves you and wants the very best for you. Well we all do, baby."

"Yeah okay, fine," she said, giving up. What other choice did she have? She could say no but that might land her in trouble and she liked her freedom.

"That's my good girl. So I'm going to go get him. I'll be right outside of your door if you need me," she replied, walking by the door.

"Okay and thanks for actually talking to me and not yelling at me."

She turned to look at her. "Of course, I know you, sweetie."

Holly smiled as she tried not to cry.
