"Mommy when are they gonna be home? I don't think I can wait any longer!" Lily said with a huge smile. She wanted the family to be whole again.

"They're be home soon, sweetie," her mom replied with the same expression as her daughter.

As soon as the kids woke up they wanted to make Holly's homecoming very special. Even though it had been a day, these kids were attached to the hip. So the kids helped Paula make a get well card out of construction paper and a banner to surprise Holly with to show her how much she was loved. The kids missed their father too, but he wasn't the one who juat had surgery the day before.

Just then Simon came inside the house while Holly wheeled herself in. She's very independent and didn't ask for any help. There was a noticeable bright red cast on her right leg that covered all of her shin and came to a halt at her knee. Holly was still able to bend her knee though. The next few months were going to be challenging, but Holly was up for it because she had no other option.

After Holly had cleared the door, she and her dad were attacked by hugs from the rest of the family. Honey leaped into Holly's lap and licked her face. Holly started to laugh because the dog's tail was tickling her thigh.

"So how was your night? Did you managed to get any sleep?" Paula asked, looking between Simon and Holly.

"Just barely, love. The nurses kept on coming in to check on her," Simon replied with a yawn.

"They have to do that for safety reasons, honey. So was Holly good for you?"

"Yes, but we're both glad to be home. So how did it go here?"

"Good, we missed you both!"

Then Holly's siblings came up to her and presented her with the card they made and showed her the banner. Both gifts put a smile onto Holly's face.

Paula grinned from ear to ear. "Well come on in!"

The family walked down the hallway as Holly rolled into the living room. She loved how she could race around the house in her chair and hoped her parents didn't put an end to her fun. She rolled up to the end of the couch, made sure the brakes were on and watched TV like the normally would on a summer day.

"Sweetie would you like to get out of that chair?" Paula asked Holly. She could tell that her daughter was sick of being stuck already.

Holly's eyes got big. "Can I?"

"Yes," her mom replied trying not to laugh at how cute she was being.

Then Holly literally jumped from the chair onto the couch. Paula couldn't watch the disaster waiting to happen. She was worried that Holly would actually break her leg or another part of her body in the process of dangerously moving from one seat to another.

"Okay Mom you can look now," Holly said laughing.

"Okay please try be careful," Paula replied while looking at her daughter.

"We don't want to make another trip to the hosptial," Simon replied with his arms crossed.

Holly sighed. "Don't worry, I will be."

"Sweetie, can I get you anything?" Paula asked, while making eye contact with her daughter.

"A working leg would be great," Holly replied trying not to cry. She had a hard time staying still anyway, but now she was stuck sitting here for the rest of her summer vacation. It was officially over before it could even start.

Paula sat right next to Holly on the couch and held her in her arms. "Oh baby, you'll be able to use your leg soon, I promise. But in the meantime, would you like something to drink?"
