"Dylan you like her, huh?" Paula asked with a smile.
"Yep," Dylan replied nodding.
"I knew something was going on earlier when you were whispering with your sisters before we left today. But I never got the chance to ask you what was going on," she said truthfully.
"I'm going to go call my parents. I'll be right back," Sydney said trying to get out of there. She thought a family argument was about to take place. She was glad she had an legit reason to leave.
"Okay sweetie," Paula said with a smile as she watched Sydney disappear into the house. When Sydney was gone, Paula looked right at Dylan. "So how long have you liked her?" she asked not sure of when his crush started.
"Well um ever since we moved in. Uh do we get to keep her as our sitter?"
"Yes, but why would you ask that?"
"Well I was thinking that you guys ever found out about she and I, you wouldn't want her to watch us."
"I'm glad you like her. But you're too young for her. You are too young to date anyway, but when you get older, you should date someone who is around your age."
"But Mum what if because I really like her, I wouldn't listen you her?"
"Well she always tells us that all of you are angels. But if you were ever to disobey her, you would be in big trouble. And I'm not talking to Dylan here."
"Hey guys!" Simon said, walking up to his family. What's going on here?" he asked after looking at the expressions on their faces.
"Your son has a crush on Sydney. He was worried that we wouldn't let her continue to watch them if we found out about it. But then he was worried that because he really liked her that he wouldn't listen to her. So I told him and his sisters that if we ever got a bad report from Sydney that they would be in trouble," Paula replied as she filled Simon in on their current situation.
"Yep I agree a hundred percent with you, love. Guys your behavior shouldn't change because of if you like the person who is watching you or not. We know you love being with Sydney. But just so you know, your mother and I expect you to listen and obey anyone who is in authority over you. Understand?" he said in a fatherly tone with his arms crossed.
"Yes Daddy we do," Lily replied as she answered for her siblings as well as herself.
"Good. So why is Sydney on the phone?" he asked wondering and changing the subject.
"She's calling her parents to see if it's okay that she has dinner with us tonight. I wanted to get to know her and not just have her leave after we got home," Paula said hoping he would be okay with that. She had just made up the plan in the moment and din't have time to talk to him about it first.
"Oh yeah good idea love. I don't know why that thought never crossed my mind."
Paula just smiled at him. She could've responded to him, but she didn't want to ruin this nice moment. Instead she turned to talk to the kids again.
"Come on, let's go make dinner."
"Okay," Rochelle said with a nod.
Holly rolled herself up to the sliding door. "Um help please?"
"Don't worry, I'm coming, sweetheart."
"Thanks Dad."
"Of course."
When the family came inside the house, Sydney was just getting off the phone.
"Hey guys great news! I can stay for dinner!" she exclamined with a huge grin. Sydney was not only happy to be asked to stay for a meal with them, but as a Saula fan this was a dream come true!
