Simon stared into her eyes and a huge smile appeared upon his face.
"Well, goodnight love, see you in the morning."
Paula stood still as she watched as he opened the cherry wooden door before he walked across the hall. She wanted to run after him and throw her arms around his waist but her legs wouldn't move. She knew for a fact that she wanted to be with him. But for the life of her she couldn't figure out why her feet wouldn't move. Was she scared of what could happen if she followed him? Or was she just honesty scared to take the next move? Her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of his bedroom door closing. She sighed and lowered her head as she closed the door quietly. She was very disappointed in herself because her moment was gone and now it would just seem silly to go after him now.
On the other side of the hallway, Simon was laying in bed. He thought about why she didn't follow him. To why she didn't stop him before he entered his room. It seemed to him as if she had a blank stare on her face like she had no idea what to do next. He knew he had to do something but what could that possibly be? He had one option that could actually work. He needed to go into her room and pick her up in his arms and then come back to his room. Just then he got out of bed, put on his black robe on again and opened the door. He looked to the right and then to the left to see if the coast was clear because he wanted to keep their relationship a secret until they were ready to go public with their relationship. He tip-toed into the hallway and before he could reach for the door, Dylan's bedroom door squeaked open, just a crack. He slowly walked to the door, as Dylan came out rubbing his right eye with his hand.
"What's wrong, son?"
"Daddy, I just got a twin message that my sissy's not doing good."
"Okay come on let's go check on her."
As they arrived, Simon placed his ear on the off-white door. He led Dylan by the hand before closing the door quietly. He walked slowly up to the bed to find her fast asleep.
"Son, what did you're twin message actually say?"
"I just had a feeling that something wasn't right."
Simon lifted Rochelle up in his arms before walking Dylan back to his room. From there he entered his room and placed her on the other side of his king-sized bed before walking back to close the door yet again. His plan didn't work out the way that he planned it and he was okay with that. Because his daughter needed him more than anything right now. A few minutes later, she began to whimper in her sleep. He rubbed her back as he began to comfort her and she calmed down before he fell asleep.
The next morning, after the kids went to school,Simon decided to call in sick at work so that he could spend time with his Mom before her flight left later on that afternoon. Paula told Simon that she had to get some work done, but that was a complete fib. She was making an offer on the house right next door. And after a couple of hours later she finally got the keys to her new home. She didn't want to come over as a bother and the last thing that she wanted to do was to intrude on Simon and his family. She knew that she would have to tell him sometime about the house but hoped that it wouldn't be soon because the last thing she wanted to do was to hurt him in any way, shape or form. As soon as she got the keys, she took a quick look around before getting back into her car. She drove to the nearest coffee shop and got a decaf latte.
Then she made her way back to Simon's house since it was almost time to pick up the kids from school. When she got there, she used the key that he had recently made for her so that she wouldn't interrupt them. She could hear laughter as soon as she opened the front door. After she had closed and locked the front door and had placed her purse on the foyer table, she went to find them. She searched most of the downstairs until she finally found them in the family room, on the larger sofa, chatting and laughing away. Paula didn't want to interrupt them but they had other plans so she lightly knocked on the wall to get their attention.
