Chapter 26: Together Forever

~Brandon~

"Katie, wake up!" I screamed shaking her with tears streaming down my face. Jan can't have killed her from last night, no way. "Katie. Please wake up! Please!"

I pulled her phone out of her back pocket of her jeans. I got to Mac's contact and pressed on phone.

"Hello?" She said sleepily.

"It's Brandon, get to my house right away!" I said wiping my tears from my eyes.

"Why, Brandon? what is wrong?" She asked sounding a little less tired.

"It's Katie, get here now!" I yelled. Mum must have heard me and slammed my door open.

"Rick, get the kids in the car. We'll be right over," Mac said quickly and hung up.

"She's not waking up!" I screamed at my mum. She ran over and took her pulse. She looked at me worried and gave me a hug. I'm ready to fucking kill Jan.

"Brandon, wake up!" Katie screamed in my face. I woke up instantly, thank god it was only a dream. She moved backwards and I sat up. I cupped her face quickly and rubbed her cheeks. She wiped off the tears trickling down my face with her thumbs. "What's wrong?"

"I don't know what I would do without you," I said leaning in to give her a kiss which she gladly accepted. Our lips moved in sync as I gripped her waist. I really don't know what I would do without her.

I pulled apart and pecked her lips once more before I got out of bed. I slipped on the first shirt I saw in the cupboard.

"My head's throbbing," Katie complained. "What happened last night and why is my lip sore?"

"Well you did have about three beers," I said giving her my hand to get up. "and you and Jan got into a tussle."

"What happened? I also fell asleep in the car, how did I get in here?" She asked as she grabbed on my hand. I pulled her up and we started walking downstairs.

"I carried you in here and something happened while I was at the toilet. Lucy saved you from a punch that would have hurt heaps and I saved Lucy from getting a punch to the face," I said. "I think you should thank her today. That punch would have really hurt too."

"Will do and thank you from saving my best friend. You're my knight in shining armour." She smiled, I smiled back and we walked downstairs hand in hand.

We walked into the kitchen and looks like we are having bacon again. Everyone was sitting at the table eating their food. Bridget saw us walk in and ran up to Katie. I let go of Katie's hand and grabbed our two plates and juices.

"Katie, are you okay from last night?" Bridget said as I sat down in my seat. Michael mouthed many of times what happened. 

"Ok Michael, stop!" I said dropping my knife and fork. "Her and Jan got into a fight, okay?"

His jaw dropped.

"Who won?" He asked. Everyone at the table huffed and Bridget rolled her eyes. They both stopped talking about something and sat down.

"Okay, dinner for the family tonight at the beach front. I'm buying and Katie is a part of the family," Justin said. We all whooped and finished eating.

Katie and I had to go back to school, unfortunately.

"Lucy, thanks for last night too. Even though I don't remember but Brandon told me." Katie smiled.

"Yeah no problem, thanks again Brandon," Lucy thanked and I gave her the quick salute. The teachers walked down and into the hall.

"Who bought the water balloons? Lets go get the year elevens!" I shouted. Someone threw four balloons at me and all I had to do is fill them up with water. Once that was done I handed one to Katie, Lucy and Nathan. Everyone ran up in a massive group and threw them anywhere in the grade eleven area but everyone of them got soaked.

We all ran back down and said our goodbyes in the fifty minutes we had left.

~At dinner~

"What do you want?" I asked Katie and she shrugged.

"Whatever your having," she said. I'm just having some chips, nothing fancy.

We all ordered and walked down to the beach front as a family. We set up a few picnic blankets.

"Chips for you and Katie and a lemonade," Justin said as he handed us each one after he said them. Katie and I fed each other chips as did Justin and Bridget. Justin's been seeming nervous all day. I don't know why but he just has been. We all sat and ate our food and drank our drinks.

We all finished around the same time and we walked along the beach front all together in one big row. Michael on the left edge, Mum and dad, Me and Katie then Bridget and Justin on the waters side. We were all hand in hand well except for Michael, FOREVER ALONE...

"Everyone stop," Justin commanded. We all stopped and sort of crowded around him. "Bridget, I've wanted to do this for a long time now and, well hand me your hand."

She handed him her hand with it open.

"I love you," He whispered in her ear as he placed something in her hand and she closed it. "You are my everything."

She looks so confused, even I'm confused with what's going on. It's either he's breaking up or he's... Oh, I know what he's doing. I smiled then looked at Katie who's grip tightened on my arm and my hand. She knows what is going on by the looks on her face.

She started to open it slowly and Justin bent down on one knee. She opened her hand fully and looked at Justin and back at the diamond ring. It was silver with a big diamond in the middle and small diamonds surrounding it. Justin took the engagement ring off of her and held it up to her.

"Bridget Annabelle Charlie, we've had many good years together and I would like to make more. I want a future with you, be parents, grandparents and Aunty and Uncle to our family's kids. You are the most important thing in the world to me and I don't know what my future would be like without you. I guess what I'm trying to say is; will you marry me?"

"Of course I will! I love you," Bridget said wiping the tears from her cheeks. She put out her left hand and Justin slipped it on her finger. They gave each other a hug and a kiss, or should I say short make-out session.

We all shared hugs with them and happily had a walk across the sand of the beach.
