I watched as Jo's eyes widened and her jaw dropped. Her mouth closed and she tried to take in what I said. She tried to speak, but it looked like no words could come out. I had made her speechless.

Finally, she regained from the shock, "Ni-" she began, but was interrupted by the noise of the front door opening.

We both froze. I didn't even try to hide; Jo didn't try and get me to hide. IT was like we were already caught and didn't bother to try and change fate.

The footsteps stopped and I knew Asher was in the room. I wasn't ready to turn around, so I just waited to see how Jo would react. She bit her lip and mouthed something to herself before finally turning around.

I mimicked Jo's movements and turned around. There we were, both faced with Asher.

            "A-Asher?" Jo stuttered out.

I could see the intense fear in her eyes. Not much scared Jo, but Asher was definitely her number one fear. How is it possible to fear something immensely, but love it equally?

"Why is he here?" Asher asked between closed teeth. He was asking Jo, so I wasn't supposed to answer. I wanted to help Jo out, but I knew everything I said would be tuned out.

"He wanted to talk to me," Jo's voice came out not much louder than a whisper.

"And you let him in?" Asher growled. I could almost here the noise of his teeth grinding. It sounded like nails on a chalkboard. His anger was piercing every inch of my body.

Jo nodded, her eyes were timidly facing the floor. Her fear was affecting me, too. I wanted to wrap my arms around her frail body and hold her close. Jo would disappear from the world; disappear from Asher's sight.

Asher sighed and angrily shook his head, "Well, that was a damn stupid mistake, wasn't it, Jo?" he growled at her.

The fear in Jo was starting to unfold. I could see her trying to inch away from Asher, but it was only but a millimeter at a time. She hurriedly nodded a million nods in a second.

"Get him the hell out of our house, Jo!" Asher snapped at her and pointed to the direction of the door.

Jo immediately jumped up and grabbed my arm. Her touch felt like fire, even if she was trying to get me out. My feelings were all in line and I just wasn't ready to leave just yet.

Jo tried to move me, but I didn't budge. Instead, I pulled myself up to my feet; towering over Jo. It felt like she had shrunk a few inches. Was her fear affecting Jo or me?

"No, I'm not going," I told this to Jo, not Asher. If Asher wanted to only get mad at Jo and not the person who was in the house then two can play at that game."
