Asher frowned, "You're just joking with me, right?"
He literally isn't taking this seriously. He thought that he had Jo so wrapped around his finger that he believes that Jo would never even think of the possibility of leaving him.
Jo shook her head, but didn't say any words. I really was nervous that his words would convince her to stay with him. I wanted to just take Jo out of here, but she did need to make peace with herself now, not Asher; she already made peace with him inside herself.
"So you brought this asshole with you to break up with me?" Asher growled at her. Jo took a step back, but didn't move because my hand was still on her back. Jo didn't answer his question.
"Why don't you tell me why you want to break up with me, Jo?" Asher managed out between clenched teeth.
I looked down at Jo to see that her words were lost her in her throat, so I had to intervene, "She has finally understood-" I began, but Asher interrupted, "No, I want Jo to speak. If she wants to break up, she's gonna have to say the damn words herself."
"I want to break up," Jo repeated her own words, which were now no louder than a whisper.
"Okay, I get that, I want to know why you want to break up, Jo," he said in a surprisingly calm voice. I bet he is trying to seem all nice so she'll go back to him. He really is doing anything to get her to stay.
"Y-You're hurting me too much," She stuttered out. This was extremely difficult for her. I wanted to help her, but I just couldn't. Jo has to solve this herself.
"I've been hurting you for a long time now, why did you suddenly decide to break up with me?" Asher asked. Now he is trying to mess with her mind.
"B-Because I've finally realized that it is too painful now... I just can't take it anymore, you're always hurting me and I just want to be treated nice for once!" Jo cried out.
"So who taught you that, because you obviously couldn't figure it out on your own. So who the hell was it, Jo?"
Jo glanced at me and then back at Asher. She wants me to tell him, but I just can't. She has to do this on her own, if I help then she won't truly lose him in her heart. He'll slowly rebuild himself if I just fight him away.
"Niall did..." Jo whispered and trailed off. She was staring at the phone and would glance up at Asher every few seconds.
"Did he now?" Asher smirked, "Look who is playing you now, Jo? You really are stupid, aren't you? Every guy you have ever liked wants to take control of you. He's just using you like I have been. He's even using my own plan: he's going to be nice to you and then slowly take over your mind. Soon, you'll be doing his every command and-"
"Shut the hell up!" I yelled at him, "I'm not at all like you!""Jo and I aren't going to take your word for it. Neither of us can believe you now, so I don't think Jo should be with you. I bet you're worse than me."
I wanted to punch that stupid smirk off of his face. He was pissing me off and I really wanted to just beat him to death right now.
"Niall is different than you, Asher!" Jo exclaimed; her volume surprised me. This time she was standing up for herself. I'm beginning to wonder if this is the first time that she ever has stood up for herself in front of him, "He actually cares about me, more than you ever did! Plus, he is more like me than you ever were!"
