"Haven't you thought about it... there's only 7 more months of school," I said to Maria as we sat in the library.

"I know, I've been counting them down too."

"After this, we're off into the real world. People say to enjoy being a kid, but to be honest, I'm ready to grow up and move out."

"I understand. I've already had enough fun, and there's always enough room in life to have a little fun and all."

I nodded in agreement as we jotted down some notes together. I sighed, looking up at the ceiling and then, down to the floor.

"I got a 57 on my Calculus test," I told her and she gasped.

"Kimberly! That was a very easy test, I don't see how you could've failed that. Is he allowing your class to turn in test corrections?" She asked and I shook my head.

"No, he's not... It brought my grade down to a 79. I really need to have all A's," I answered, feeling depressed the more I thought about it. "And the thing that really sucks, is that I actually felt confident about that test."

It was the worst feeling in the world, feeling so confident about something and then, absolutely failing it completely.

Maria put a hand on my shoulder, in effort to comfort me. I appreciated her effort, but there was nothing that could make me feel better.

Nathan texted me: Hey, come out of the library. I got something to give you. :)

Why couldn't he just come into the library? I groaned as I stood up and collected my things. Maria did the same and we both walked out of the library.

Nathan stood there with a milkshake and two ice cream cones in his hands. "Hurry, and grab an ice cream cone because I am about to drop all of these."

"Yay! Ice cream!" I was excited as I grabbed one and Maria grabbed the other. "Thank you so much, Nathan." I thanked him with a huge smile on my face as I took off a big chunk of ice cream.

"Geez, you're going to get so many brain freezes eating like that," Maria commented as she licked her ice cream, calmly.

I shook my head. "I don't get brain freezes, except I do have really sensitive teeth."

I grabbed the milkshake from Nathan's hand, just as he was about to take a sip and I took a giant sip of it.

"You do realize that I am barely recovering from being sick, right?" He said to me and I shrugged my shoulders.

"Well, then, I guess I'll just get sick," I responded as I continued to eat my ice cream.

"YOU SON OF A BITCH!"

All three of us turned towards the direction of the voice. My eyes widened when I saw it was Ryan. He was clutching a wad of this other guy's t-shirt, and was glaring at him.

"Don't ever fucking talk to me like that!" Ryan yelled again as he punched the other guy in the face, the force knocked him down and other people around him gasped.

Ryan began to kick him and I ran over there. Nathan tried to stop me, but I was able to break free from his grip.

"Ryan! Stop!" I raised my voice and he turned to look at me, anger and hatred written all over his face. He stepped towards me and peered down at me face.

"Hey... Get away," Nathan said as he stepped in between us both. I was afraid Ryan was going to punch Nathan too, but he just slowly walked away, keeping his eyes on me for a while.

The guy on the floor was bleeding from his nose and was curled up in a ball. He was groaning in pain and I went and squatted down next to him. "Are you okay?" I asked him, but he continued to groan. "Nathan, help me take him to the nurse."

Nathan and I slowly pulled him up to his feet. He winced and continued to groan. I saw tears coming from his eyes and we walked him to the nurse's office, with Maria following behind quietly.

"Oh my... what happened?" The nurse asked, as she got up from her desk, and helped us lay him down on one of the beds.

"A fight happened," I answered her question and she nodded as she got some cotton and put them in each of the guy's nostrils.

"Thank you for bringing him here, you may go now," she said and we walked out of the nurse's office.

"Yo, dingus. Let's talk for a bit," Ryan called to me and I turned to see him approaching me. Nathan pulled me behind him and he stood in front of me.

"What do you need?" Nathan asked and Ryan laughed.

"Look, you're not her knight. I just need to say a few words, privately."

I hesitantly walked over to Ryan. "I'll be back really quick. Don't worry," I assured Nathan with a smile before Ryan led me outside.

"I'm just going to tell you now. Don't interfere with anything that I do, understood? You're really asking for it, and I'm not afraid to give it to you. That's just the kind of person I am."

"You didn't have to beat him up like that," I defended and he started to laugh as he looked away from me.

"Do you think that I care? That son of a bitch deserved it anyways."

"No one deserves to be treated that way. How can you even say that?" I replied as I turned to go back inside, but he grabbed my wrist.

"I want to show you the kind of guy I really am. I want you to be scared of me, to the point where you tremble at the sight of me," he said, in a low voice and I took a deep breath.

"Well, good luck," I told him before going back inside. Nathan and Maria were waiting there for me and I smiled when I walked towards them.

"Is everything alright?" Maria asked me and I nodded.

"Everything is fine."

I can't help, but wonder what even goes on in Ryan's head?
