Another week had passed. Every time I looked at the calender on my phone, I grew more nervous with each day that went by.
"Hey, let's go on a date," Ryan said as he walked out of the bathroom, holding a cotton swab in his ear.
"Well, that's strange."
"What is?"
"I never thought I would hear those words come out of your mouth," I teased and he blushed a little. He looked away and cleared his throat.
"I-I figured since we're dating now, we should do some cheesy things and all... Y'know?" He responded and I chuckled, noticing how shy he got. I tucked a strand of hair behind my ear.
"Let's go on a date, then," I said with a smile and he turned back to look at me. He stared at me for a while before he smiled back.

"I didn't know what girls like and shit. So, I thought a picnic would be cheesy enough, right?" Ryan scratched the back of his head, giving me an innocent smile.
We were sitting on an old and worn out blanket, that was fraying noticeably around the edges. There was a basket in between us. Inside were Big Macs from McDonald's, french fries, bottled sodas and a small package of chocolate.
"Yeah, it's really romantic," I assured him, trying not to let the sarcasm roll off my tongue. I turned to see a dog near us taking a nice, long dump and the owner that was holding the leash was on the phone, not bothering to pay attention.
I quietly sighed, hoping Ryan didn't hear. I wasn't completely upset. I admit I was expecting something like a nice dance in the moonlight. This wasn't horrible, and I admire his effort. But McDonald's? He could've gotten Subway at least.
"You're not happy with, huh?" He pointed out my dissatisfaction and I looked over at him. He had a look of heartbreak in his eyes and I felt a twang of pain in my heart.
"I-It's not that, it's just this spot is a little awkward...." I answered him and he stood up quickly.
"Let's move to a new spot."
"It's fine. Sit down."
He sat down and I pulled out the Big Macs from the basket. I handed him one and I set mine down in between my legs.
After a long moment of silence, I decided to break it. The longer we sat here, not saying a word, the more I wanted to leave. I finished chewing a bite I took out of my Big Mac and I swallowed it down hard.
"I've been wondering. What is it that you don't like about your dad?" I asked, not bothering to try to beat around the bush. I figured he would either answer it or not, and I would be okay with either.
He chewed slower and stared down at the Big Mac in his hands. He didn't say anything for a couple minutes. He also didn't bother to look over at me. He took a deep breath after swallowing down his food, and then exhaled.
"Many things, really. He's just a shitty person, as much as a shitty dad."
"Well, can you name some of the things you don't like?"
"Why do you want to know so much?" He suddenly asked. He sounded irritated and looked annoyed with me already.
I closed my eyes, thinking of the right things to say. I knew he was going to react like that.
"It's obvious. The relationship between you and your dad. It's quite obvious how much you both hate each other. All I want to know is why. I don't need to have a whole backstory, I just need a detailed piece."
"You really wanna know why I fucking hate him so much? He's such a manipulative bastard, and when he doesn't get his way, he forces it to become his way. He fucks with too many women. That bitch who lives in that house isn't even my real mom. I was forced my whole childhood to call her 'Mom' and when I didn't, I was beat by her."
I couldn't say anything. I had a hard time looking at him, because I could hear the pain and anger in his voice. It even trembled a bit, and I was scared to see his tears.
"He killed my mother. He casted her away so many times, she was always depressed and alone. And he would keep me away from her. And now he wants me to take over his business, but I hate it so much. I hate him so much."
"Would you ever believe that maybe he might want to reconcile with you and make things better?" I asked, a bit hesitant, but I really wanted to hear his answer.
"Fuck no. You know why? Because everything he does is bullshit. It's all lies. If he really wanted to make up with me, then he could get his coward ass over here and tell me face to face."
Ryan stood up before I could say anything else. He threw the Big Mac aside and it fell apart in the grass. He stormed off and I stood there with my Big Mac in my hands. I set it down back in its box and I pulled out my phone.
I called Mr. Winchester and he picked up after a couple of rings.
"Tell me good news," Mr. Winchester demanded and I sighed.
"There's no good news..."
"I figured. There's also no good news for you, either."
"W-What?"
"Your mother is in the hospital," he informed me and I gasped, putting a hand over my mouth.
"H-Hospital...?"
"This makes us even. Goodbye." He hung up and my phone dropped out of my hand. Hot tears poured out of my eyes and I sat there, shocked and unable to move a muscle.
Words could not describe how I felt. It was too shocking and too sudden to hear those words out that heartless, emotionless mouth of his.
I tried to stand up, but all the strength left my legs and I fell to my knees. Tears continued to stream down my face and I began to cry out loud. I couldn't control myself as I banged my fist against the ground a couple of times as I cried harder.
My whole body shook as I clutched fistfuls of blanket tightly. I hung my head low as tears dripped onto the blanket and splashing onto my hands.
I heard footsteps running towards me and it made me cry harder.
"Kimberly, what's wrong? What happened?" Ryan asked me as he plopped down in front of me. I wanted to tell him, but I couldn't. With him asking me, it kept reminding me of the words that his father had told me.
He wrapped his arms around me and held me closely. He rocked me gently as I continued to cry.
I made it official that I hated Mr. Winchester after that. He didn't bother to leave further details, he just said those words. Why was he doing this to me?
I'm doing everything he asked me to do, and still, he doesn't care how he affects other people.
I decided to declare war against him. I knew it was going to be risky, but I could not afford to be away from my family anymore. I couldn't afford to lie to Ryan anymore either.
I won't allow it anymore.

I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
I wrote it while listening to music, so if parts don't make sense, it's probably because my thoughts got a bit interrupted.
But music is life, so I couldn't help myself.
Thank you all for patiently waiting for an update. And a big thanks for supporting me on this journey.
Almost 19K and almost 1K votes, let's do this!!
I love you all so much. *blows you all a million kisses*
