"Look, I don't know what your intentions are, but he's mine. Do you understand?" She was straightforward and she wore a irritated look on her face.
Ryan's fiancée and I stood outside in the parking lot. There were not a lot of people, and it was dark outside. We decided to be farther from the lights of the hotel. I tilted my head to the side and I smirked.
"Is he really yours? Because from the looks of it, he's loved someone else for a lot longer, way before he met you," I responded, crossing my arms and shifting my weight to the right side of my body.
"Don't play games with me, bitch. I could ruin your life and your reputation in an instant!"
"Those who say things like that are more afraid than the person they're actually threatening."
She slapped me hard across my face, but I stood there, not showing any pain as I glared at her. "Don't think you're all that just because you've gotten closer to Ryan. I am engaged to him and will soon be married to him. Do you know what that means? That you're completely out of the picture," she shot back, getting more frustrated by the second. I kept the smirk on my face.
"Ryan hates spoiled girls. In fact, he hates you. But, I'm not the one who should be telling you that. And I'm also not interested in standing here arguing over something so immature. This is a waste of my time. And you're right. You're engaged and about to be getting married soon, so why are you giving me shit? If you're so damn great, why do you look so paranoid? If he's truly yours, don't be so petty about it."
I spun on my heel and walked away, not letting her add anything else. I was emotionally and physically drained, and all I wanted was to go home. I saw Nathan pulling into the parking lot and I huffed in annoyance as he pulled up beside me. I got in the car and silently put my seatbelt on.
"I know you're mad that I'm late. I apologize," Nathan said and I turned to him. I gave him a tired smile.
"It's okay, Nathan. I just want to go home."
"Right, you're sick after all."
My eyes widened. I had totally forgot I was sick, and Ryan kissed me. I closed my eyes tightly and put a hand to my forehead. I hoped so badly that he didn't get sick and that I would have to see him so miserable.
***
Nathan and I were laying on the couch watching TV. My mother and Mr. Bradley went out again tonight, so it was just Nathan and I in the house. Nathan was sitting and I had my legs stretched out across the couch, leaning my left shoulder into him and my head rested on his right shoulder. He had his arm around my waist and his other arm was on the arm of the couch.
"Do you still hate Ryan?" I asked Nathan all of a sudden, and his whole body froze for a moment before he shifted his gaze down towards me and relaxed a little more.
"Yes. I hate him and I hope he burns in hell."
"You know... Despite hating him, you can't deny that he brought me home that night," I responded, defending Ryan and I sat up, moving my body away from Nathan. "I could've been in a much worse condition if it wasn't for him."
"Kimberly."
"Hm?"
"Do you still love Ryan?" He was straightforward, and looking directly into my eyes. I quickly looked away.
"I... I can't answer that," I said and he stood to his feet.
"Goddammit.." Nathan cursed as he left the living room, slamming his bedroom door shut. I flinched at the sound and I sighed, burying my face into my hands. I stood up and walked over to his door and knocked softly. He didn't answer and I turned the knob, and it was unlocked. When I entered, he was lying down on his bed with a pillow covering his face and an arm over it. I gently sat down at the edge of his bed, and placed a hand on his other arm that was resting at his side.
"Nathan, I can't not love him... I hope you understand that. But, I also want you to understand that I have known you far longer than him, and you were always there for me when I needed you. You never left me. And I love you for that," I explained and I waited for a response, but a silence filled the room afterwards. I slowly removed the pillow from under his arm and off of his face. His eyes were closed, but I could see so much emotion in his facial expression. He was sad and I wanted to comfort in the best way I could.
I leaned forward and gently pressed my lips against his cheek. Then, I moved down a bit and pressed my lips softly against his jaw. He sucked in a breath and I kissed his chin. I stared at him for a while, before I pressed my lips against his lips, and I held it there for a couple seconds before pulling away. His eyes were still closed and I leaned back, straightening my back out.
"Kimberly." He finally spoke and he propped himself up on his elbows, staring at me.
"Hm?"
He sat up all the way and wrapped his arm around me, pulling me close to him. "You better not get me sick." He lowered his head and our lips connected, deepening with every breath we took.
***
"I broke off the engagement." Ryan came over to me and grabbed both my hands.
My eyes bulged out of its sockets as I stared at him in shock. "B-Broke it off?" My bottom lip quivered as I wondered what Mr. Winchester will do now to me and my family. I pulled my hands away from Ryan and I turned towards the door. "You never think about anyone else, Ryan. Have you forgotten what kind of cruel man your father is? When he hears of this news, he will blame me."
"Kimberly--"
I walked through the door and slammed it shut behind me. When I looked up, I saw two men standing there in suits staring at me. I sighed as I walked towards them and one of them put their hands on my shoulder, squeezing hard, causing pain and uncomfortableness. "You will have to come with us," one of them spoke and I sighed again, nodding my head in agreement.
"Wait!" Ryan shouted from behind and we turned our heads. He was dashing towards us and the man on my right who was squeezing my shoulder, wrapped an arm around my waist and lifted me up, jogging towards the elevator. The other man stayed behind and I watched as he tried to stall Ryan. We got into the elevator and I saw Ryan punching him in the face and then kicking him down. The elevator doors closed as he ran towards us.
The man who was with me, pulled out a folded cloth from his pocket and held it over my nose. I struggled, but the scent began to make my vision blurry. All I kept thinking was, Screw you, Mr. Winchester. You'll pay for this, you lowly scum!
