Dan sits silently on the new iPhone 4 (this story is currently taking place in 2010, remember. Dan is 20, and Phil is 23, and it's taking place in November), in his bedroom, while Peyton and Phil were both at work. When Peyton questioned whether or not Dan would ever get a job, he felt bad for the weeks coming after. He constantly thought maybe he should be getting a job too. He just wasn't exactly ready. However he supposed it was about time he did something, so he got online.

Hours later, Dan is still on his laptop, trying to find a job that would fit him, then suddenly gets a text from Phil.

Phil: wnna go grab some lunch?

Dan: ye, kinda,, how long tho? im a bit busy

Phil: busy?? wot u doin

Dan: im um, ready for a job

Lies.

Phil: o, u find anything you fancy yet?

Dan: nope, mayb i just need a break, when will u pick me up?

Phil: b there in like 5 mins,

Dan: alright, see u then

Dan rushes out the door, realizing Phil had probably been waiting outside for 3 minutes now.

"Sorry it took me so long, I had to take care of my rat's nest," Dan says, out of breath from the rush.

"It's fine," Phil pauses. "Why don't you like your hair curly?"

"Are you really asking me? It looks horrendous." Dan laughs.

'I think it looks really cute.' Phil thinks. He doesn't understand why he finds anything Dan does cute, like his shy laugh, and-

Phil needed to stop thinking this way.

"Oh, yeah. I don't think it looks that bad, though, not that it er- looks good. I just don't think it looks bad." Phil says nervously. Dan lets out a slight chuckle.

"I do," Dan responds.

"So uh, where do you wanna go for lunch?" Phil asks after a slight silence.

"Sweets for lunch?" Dan asks. "How 'Phil' of you."

"What do you mean 'How 'Phil' of me'?" Phil asks, sounding playfully offended.

"You always want sweets, have you not noticed that?"

"Who doesn't?" Phil questions. Dan laughs in response.

"Don't worry we all are particularly fond of your childishness, it's a quite endearing quality."

Phil smiles at the compliment. Nobody's really shown appreciation for him like that.

Not long after, they arrive at their typical place to eat and drink, Starbucks. Both of the boys got muffins and talked for the remainder of Phil's lunch break, not a single care about any drama, just talking, like good friends do.

Phil eventually checks his phone, and as usual is running late.

"Crap," He says under his breath.

"Is something wrong?" Dan asked, concerned.

"I'm late," Phil says as he begins to stand up. "Sheri's gonna get so mad."

"Shit," Dan said, "I'm sorry, I should've-" Phil cut him off.

"No it's fine Dan, it's not you're fault. Let's just get out of here, I'll drop you off." Phil assured.

"Don't worry about it, I'll get a taxi." Dan insisted.

"Are you sure?" Phil would normally argue him, but he didn't want to be even later than he would be, yet somehow get the same outcome.

"Yeah, get to work. It's fine." Dan assured Phil.

"Alright, thank you Dan."

"No problem," Dan replies. However that thank you must've not been enough to Phil, as after that he embraced Dan with a quick hug. After Phil pulled a way, he gave Dan a small smile, which Dan returned, and walked off.

Dan ended up just walking home, as it wasn't a far one. When he got home, he was confronted by Peyton being home, startling him.

"Oh, hey Peyton.. What're you-"

"Lunch break?" She told him as if it were the most obvious thing.

"Oh right," Dan mutters.

"Where are you coming from?" She questioned.

"Phil and I went out to lunch," Dan responded.

"Oh really?" She asked, obviously upset by the matter. "Well next time you leave, please lock the door." Peyton demanded, sounding quite condicending.

The worst part was that that locking the door was a perfectly reasonable request, although her tone wasn't exactly reasonable, however he still had no reason to argue. He strangely wanted to though. She was just that kind of person.

"Oh, did I not lock it? I'm sorry."

Peyton rolled her eyes and strutted off. Dan did the same, minus the strutting part, completely annoyed by Peyton's attitude. He eventually went into the living room to watch some T.V. but he heard a huge groan from the kitchen.

"Something wrong?" Dan called.

"Nothing, it's just Phil got the regular red bulls and not the sugar free ones."

'Is there a difference?" Dan thought.

"And now I have nothing to drink thanks to him."

Dan ignored that comment, because it was all kinds of messed up. Obviously Phil didn't pick up the wrong drink on purpose, so he didn't understand why Peyton was such a bitch about it.

However he had to learn to cope with it, like apparently Phil had. He lived with her now.

But he didn't know he could cope with it, Peyton's constant whining.

He couldn't stand it.
