"Mommy! Are you okay?" Aviella asks.
She sits down next to me and I nod.
"Can you go get daddy for me?" I ask weakly.
She nods, standing up and running out of the bathroom. My first wave of morning sickness, and I was already tired of it.
A few seconds later, Justin comes running into the bathroom and he kneels down next to me.
"Baby, are you okay? What happened?" He says, stroking my hair.
I'm about to answer him when another wave of nausea rolls through me and I bend over the toilet to throw up again. Justin holds my hair and rubs my back until I sit up against the wall.
"Morning sickness, I'm guessing." Justin says.
I nod, attempting to stand up. Justin helps me up and I brush my teeth two times then wash my face.
"Feel better?" He asks when I'm done.
"I guess. This sucks."
"I know. I'm sorry." He wraps an arm around me and walks me to the kitchen.
"Do you want ginger ale and/or crackers?"
"I honestly don't, but if it will make me feel better, I guess so." I shrug.
Aviella walks in with Tommy in her arms.
"Do you feel better, mommy?" She asks.
"Yeah. Thanks, babe. Ready for your game?" She nods excitedly.
"Good." I stroke her cheek and Justin gives me a glass of ginger ale.
"Thanks."
2:14 pm
"Alright, Avi. Let's go." Justin says.
He checks her bag for everything she needs, including her water bottle, her cleats, shin guards, a change of clothes, and whatever snack she chose. I didn't look.
"Everything's here." He says, looking at me.
I nod and we walk outside to the car. I put Aviella in her car seat and get in the passengers seat, leaning my head against the window.
"Feel okay, Ari?" Justin asks.
"Yeah. Just not used to morning sickness."
"You've only had it once."
"Exactly."
"I get it." He says, rubbing my stomach.
"Who taught you to drive?"
"What do you mean?"
"You're supposed to keep both hands on the wheel at all times."
"I think you're fine with this." He says.
I smile, focusing my eyes on the passing buildings. It takes 20 minutes to get to the park where Aviella's playing. When we do, she runs off to her team and I sit with Justin on the bleachers.
"Why don't you sit with the soccer moms? You are a soccer mom." Justin says.
"Why don't you stand with the soccer dads? Screaming at Aviella to run faster and score a goal?"
"She doesn't need that. She does it by herself."
"Then I don't need to sit with those snobby stuck up fake ass bitches."
"Woah, calm down. They're right there."
"Yes, on the other side of the field."
"You know they have the ears of a hawk." He laughs.
A small smile forms on my face and I take out my phone. It's a really pretty day outside so I take advantage of that by making a few Snapchat videos.
"I don't understand why you don't like Snapchat." I tell Justin, turning my phone off as the teams get ready for the game to start.
"I just don't." He shrugs, wrapping an arm around my shoulders.
Aviella looks at us with a huge smile on her face. I blow her a kiss and the smile grows, if that's possible. She loves soccer, maybe even more than she loves art.
The ref blows the whistle, signaling the start of the game, and she immediately goes for the ball. Another girl from her team gets it, and passes it to Aviella, who runs down the field with it and makes the first goal of the game.
"Wow, she's a beast." Justin says.
"That was really fast. It didn't even take 5 seconds." I reply.
The ball is passed in, this time to the other team. The girl with the ball runs the ball to her goal, but when she goes to kick it, one of Aviella's teammates steals it and runs back down the field. The girl scores, then the other the scores right after.
These girls are amazing.
3:23 pm
Aviella's team won, obviously. It was 5-2, and Aviella scored 2 out of 5 points.
"Alright girls, we did great today. Amazing job on the win. I have nothing to say but keep working hard. I'm proud of you all." The team's coach, Coach K, says.
"You're free to go, and I'll see you all on Wednesday."
Wednesday's and Thursday's are practice days. According to the schedule, they usually have a game on Saturday or Sunday, or sometimes both.
Justin picks Aviella up and kisses her cheek.
"You did amazing, princess. We are both proud of you, little miss all-star." I say as we walk back to the car.
She grins as he buckles her into her car seat and gets into the drivers seat.
"Do you want pizza to celebrate your victory?" Justin asks.
"Yeah!" She squeals.
"Well, pizza it is."
