MESSY THOUGHTS

I lean towards the kitchen counter and try to bring my self back to reality. Besides the fact that I was an ass to both of them, and they've saved me quite a few times already from my menaces; why would they keep wanting to be in my life? I don't even know what I want. I take a look at the time to realize that Emily will be here any minute now. I put the chocolate soufflé in the oven and run towards the stereo to put some loud music on.

It always helps me to put my thoughts in some kind of order. I start dancing to the rhythm and singing to the top of my lungs for some time before my phone starts vibrating in my pocket. I take it out in order to answer but someone's knocking on my door; that must be Emily.

"Just a second!" I run to the oven to take out the lava cakes before they turn into charcoal and pick up my phone as well. "Hello?"

"Miss S, you didn't give me a call."

"Hello, Sir, I didn't want to bother you. How does your wound feel?"

"It'll pass. Is there anything you need?" Yeah, what about, you? Here? Now?

"I'm really good, thank you for the concern. Maybe you're the one that needs something?" There goes another knock on the door. Damn it!

"Someone's knocking on your door S? I'll call you later. Take care."

"No you don't have to g- o." Before I manage to finish my sentence he hangs up. I hate it when people do that. I stay still cursing on my phone before an other knock brings me back to reality. God damn it! Maybe I'll just text her to leave!

"Hey sorry I kept you wait...ing." My jaw drops to the ground while I keep staring at my guest.

"Hey little warrior. Something smells good!" Nathan comes inside my apartment without even asking. I keep looking at him as if he was an alien who just landed into my apartment.

"Oh please, do come in." I look at him pretending to be upset by his self- inviting to my place.

"Cute place you got here." He says while he makes himself comfortable on my couch. Angus has been looking at him and sniffing him. Poor dog... He must be confusing him with Dante. Who can blame him? "Hey little buddy!" Nathan scratches Angus's ear making him love him immediately.

"What do you want, Nathan?" I narrow my eyes and look at him interrogatively.

"I thought you asked me to come over, over the phone..?" He licks his lips to hide a smile. I try to keep my focus on his eyes but it's not like this is making it any easier.

"You know I didn't."

"Then for whom did you bake those for..?" With just a stride he's already in the kitchen pulling apart one of the chocolate soufflés. "This is delicious!"

"Gee thanks for noticing."

The molten chocolate runs from the corner of his lips. He cleans it up with his thumb and slowly licks it. I widen my eyes and turn my gaze away while I'm mumbling something that doesn't even make sense to me. He comes towards me, scanning me with his eyes as if he was searching for something. My body tenses, I never felt comfortable when people observed me...

"This would go perfectly with some ice -cream. If I knew, I'd have brought some."

He eats the last bite of his soufflé, sucking the chocolate off of his thumb carefully while piercing my eyes with his. I can feel my face changing colors. A few seconds later we both get startled to the knocking door. Angus is already behind the door sniffing underneath it. He doesn't bark which means that his must be Emily after all. What am I going to do now?!
