Geek slowly opened his eyes. The soothing, gentle breeze felt good on his body as he lay in the grass. He must've been napping or something. Slowly, he sat up, his head throbbing from what felt like a headache. Looking around, he noticed a beautiful, gleaming, and very inviting pond with a waterfall not far off. He crawled over to it and began drinking the delicious water. He sat in the muddy area on his legs for a moment, letting the water go down his throat and into his body. Suddenly, he realized he was staring at a reflection in the water. Looking closely, he could make out the creature looking back at him through the water. It was a Riolu.
"What the-" Geek began to say as he looked down at himself, soon realizing that he was the Riolu.
"What the heck!?" He shouted in confusion.
"Where am I!? What am I!?" He continued on, looking around puzzled as he observed his surroundings.
"Okay, hold on, take this one step at a time. Do I remember my name..." Geek slowed his thoughts and sat calmly next to the pond with the gentle sound of water crashing down in the distance.
"Geek. My name is Geek. That's good, now let's try and remember how we got here," Geek told himself as he began slowing his breathing, and searched deep inside of himself.
"Nothing. All I remember is my name, and that I was... I was... a human," Geek reminded himself.
"Is this a dream?" Geek asked himself as he looked down at his arm and pinched it, confirming to himself that this was, indeed, not a dream.
As his head started feeling better, Geek began walking around the area. He stayed close to the pond and waterfall so he wouldn't get lost. After a few hours of looking around, he found himself back at the same spot. He plopped down and began eating an apple he had found earlier. It tasted so good. Now that he was a Pokemon, he guessed that he liked what Pokemon liked too. This was odd. He woke up in a strange new world, in another body, with no memories or knowledge to go off of. This was a fine mess he was in.
"Okay, maybe if I just keep going in a certain direction, I'll get to a town or something that I can find help in. Maybe if I go that way-" Geek suddenly stopped mid thought as a branch snapped in the distance.
Slowly standing up, Geek looked in the direction of the noise. More branches were snapping now. It sounded like an entire group of Pokemon were charging forward through the forest, right towards him. Geek stood curiously in the clearing. It was a strange feeling. He felt strong suddenly, like he could take on the world. He felt like nothing could bring him down. As he stood waiting for the Pokemon to get to him, he realized that it sounded like someone was running from a group of others. The sounds of the branches and the timing made it seem as though someone was running away from something.
Just as the bushes erupted, Geek held back an attack as a Skitty came out, panting and scared. She ran up to Geek and stopped, letting out a shriek of fear. She turned around and stopped, realizing that whatever was chasing her was close behind.
"Please help me!" She cried out running behind Geek as another Pokemon emerged from the trees ahead, an Onix from the looks of it.
"Holy mother of-" Geek muttered as the Onix straightened itself, making himself at least twenty feet higher than Geek.
"You. Riolu. Why do you guard that thief?" The Onix asked in a deep voice.
"Thief? What?" Geek asked as looked at the Skitty who was shaking in fear behind him.
"She stole something from me. Something important. I want it back. Take it from her and give it to me now," the Onix commanded.
"Please don't. I traveled so far to get my precious doll back," Skitty replied, revealing a worn out looking Pikachu doll.
"Is that really yours?" Geek asked quietly, making sure the Onix didn't hear him.
"Yes, see here? I wrote my name on it and they crossed it out," Skitty told him, showing her name with a huge x across it.
"Right. Don't worry. I'll protect you," Geek said.
After the words left his mouth, he realized what he was about to fight. An Onix. A fracking twelve foot tall snake made out of rocks. Something about what he said though. It made him feel joy inside. He felt happy about his decision.
"Onix. I've been alerted to your real intentions. This wasn't your doll in the first place, so back off," Geek demanded as he stared Onix right in the eyes.
"Fine. If you do not wish to help me, then you wish to fight me!" Onix screamed as he moved his tail into the ground, causing a massive shockwave all over the place.
"Woah okay! Maybe got myself a little too deep!" Geek shouted as he jumped up onto a tree.
Holding on with one hand, Geek charged up and fired a massive blue orb out of his palm that landed right into Onix's face. In pain, the Onix curled back and balled up, most likely a Defense Curl.
"What just came out of my hand!?" Geek asked himself.
"Don't you know your own moves!? That was Aura Sphere!" Skitty called out.
"Aura Sphere, right!" Geek replied as he lept from the tree and dashed forward.
He slammed into Onix over and over again rapidly dealing damage to the rocky snake.
"Extreme Speed right?" Geek asked the Skitty.
"Yeah! Don't you know your own moves though? That's kind of a necessary thing in battles," Skitty asked confused.
"Umm, yeah, I guess. This is al kinda new to me," Geek replied.
It was best that others not know of his real situation.
"Look out!" Skitty shouted as the Onix slammed into Geek, sending him flying into another tree.
"Oh god. Probably should stay focused on my opponent," Geek thought to himself.
"You cannot win against me fool! You are a mere child fighting a titan!" Onix mocked.
"Yeah, but that means I'm the underdog. Underdog's always have higher chances!" Geek shouted as he opened his mouth and spewed out a massive ray of dark purple energy from his gaping mouth.
"You know Dragon Pulse!?" Skitty and Onix shouted at the same time.
Onix took the hit straight into the chest, flying backwards until finally stopping with a huge trail of kicked up dirt and trees in his wake. Geek stood hunched over, huffing and puffing, panting and trying to catch his breath.
"Oh geez. Battling... really takes... the wind out... of me..." Geek muttered to himself as Skitty ran over to him.
"Thank you! Thank you so much! I tried to get help from so many people but nobody would stand up to Onix. I'm so happy now!" Skitty explained.
"I'm glad you're happy. Hey, do you know of any place I might be able to stay for the night? I kinda don't have a home or anything," Geek asked.
"Sure! You can say with me and my family!" Skitty said.
Geek suddenly perked up at the idea. Things might not be that bad after all. Sure he had no memories or anything, but at least he could survive in this world. Maybe. That night, Geek was introduced to Skitty's family in Petal Town. Little did Geek know, however, that this was only the beginning of a long and perilous adventure that was filled with friends, enemies, and legends of long ago. Before any of that can be told however, another story must unfold first. The story of how Geek met his loyal partner. His best friend in the whole world, and companion to the end. The story, of how Geek and Volt the Pikachu, became the closest friends, ever.
