Geek and Volt walked out of the stairwell. They both looked around, and saw Jirachi on the edge of the Tower again, just like when they first met. The two looked to each other, concerned looks on their faces. They walked over to Jirachi.
"You two came to ask about whether you had to leave," Jirachi suddenly blurted out before Geek even got to say anything.
"Ah... ummm... yeah. Yeah we did," Geek replied.
He was nervous.
"Please Jirachi. We want to stay. We don't want to go back to the human world," Volt pleaded.
"I know. That is why I am here to tell you... you don't have to," Jirachi said.
Geek and Volt let out a sigh, but Jirachi turned and looked to them with a stone cold expression, then said, "There is a catch."
"What is it?" Volt asked, wanting to get this over with.
"In order for you to stay in this world, you must not know of the human world. Nor should anyone else," Jirachi explained, "I will have to completely erase all memories of being a human."
Geek and Volt looked to each other, a common agreement in their eyes. They didn't really know much anyway. All they remembered was that the human world exsisted, and that they were humans. They didn't know much else other than the scarves, and their purpose in this world as heroes.
"What about the others who know? What about the scarves? What about Wraith and everything we did?" Geek asked, wanting to know every detail before having them wiped away.
"The others will not remember you being humans. Geek will remain a member of Skitty's home, and Volt will remain with the Raichu. Everyone will respect you as normal Pokemon, however their memories of Wraith will still be there. The scarves will simply be viewed as weapons made by the legends, givin to you, 'random chosen ones,' to defeat Wraith. You will simply be lucky heroes to the world, but heroes nonetheless," Jirachi assured them.
"Well, in that case, what about the Explorers of Tomorrow? Will we still be with them?" Volt asked.
"Yes. To replace what really happened, you will be two exceptions, other than Wave, of kids being in the team. You will have proven your strength, which you will still have on your own and through the scarves, by defeating Wave in battle. Life will be normal, just without the human side of things," Jirachi explained.
"I guess," Geek said, a single tear rolling down his cheek.
He didn't want to get his memories of being a human wiped, but if that's what it took, then that's what he'd do.
"I'll see you on the other side," Volt said, sharing a tear on his own cheek.
Jirachi nodded, then raised his head and began charging his power. Light began glowing from Geek and Volt's scarves. Geek and Volt smiled to each other. They knew they would still be friends. They would still be in this world they wanted to be in, but they would be missing a part of themselves. They would be missing that crucial information about their true identities. Sacrifices must be made, Geek thought to himself. The light grew brighter, and Geek was almost fully enveloped in it. Volt shed one last tear before fading into the bright blinding white light. Geek could almost, feel, his memories being wiped. Slowly, one by one, his memories of being a human in all of their adventures faded away. Sadness welled up in him as all the memories of being a human were deleted, replaced by fake memories of a Pokemon life he never had. He smiled though. The memories he was given, they were good memories. Maybe one day, Geek thought, he would be able to retrace his steps. Maybe one day, he would remember who he really was. One day, the missing chunk would be filled in. Light consumed Geek, and he fell into a deep sleep.
