Geek jumped over a massive boulder that flew at him, landing on the ground and looking up to be slammed in the face by another boulder. He slammed into a wall, then landed on the ground with a loud thud. Marowak was right next to him in an instant, helping him up and smashing a boulder with his bone. Geek lept up and jumped over another boulder, this time landing and jumping again as another boulder flew by. Gigalith suddenly slammed a foot into the ground, causing Marowak, who was running towards him, to trip over and start flying around. Geek hit the floor and immediately crumpled to the ground and began flying around like a ragdoll. He landed on the ground again with an even louder thud, then slowly got up, his body battered and weak.
Marowak stood next to him, although he didn't look as injured. Marowak launched forward, then chucked his bone which slammed into Gigalith, sending him stammering backwards, then hitting him in the back of the head sending him stammering towards Marowak. Marowak immediately went from a Boomerang to a Headbutt, sending Gigalith into the wall. Geek stood in the middle of the room, hand over his shoulder, watching as Marowak beat the living crap out of Gigalith. Despite his good attacks, Marowak finally was knocked away by Gigalith's Rock Smash. Marowak flew past Geek and into the rocky wall behind him. Geek looked back at Gigalith to see him charging forward.
Jumping over Gigalith, landing on the ground, then turning around, Geek charged and launched an Aura Sphere right into Gigalith's back. Gigalith suddenly tripped over something, then fell to the ground hard. Gigalith's leg was wrapped in vines. Volt jumped over Gigalith and landed next to Geek, both friends exchanging a quick glance, then returning their attention to Gigalith.
"Looks like you guys had fun," Volt said as he nodded over to Marowak, who was now using his bone as a crutch to get over to them.
"Oh shut it," Geek replied painfully.
"Right. Let's do this. I'll set him up," Volt said as he bolted forward, using Extreme Speed to get Gigalith to follow him.
Gigalith got up and turned around, furious and charging at Volt with raging speed. Volt landed on the ground from his attack, then started running towards Geek. Marowak stood next to Geek, leaning against his bone with his battered body. Geek stood ready to fire. Volt jumped up, slammed Gigalith with an Iron Tail, then landed behind Geek. The Gigalith, while distracted from the hit to the head, didn't notice the purple energy charging inside of Geek's chest.
"Now!" Volt shouted as Geek opened his mouth.
Gigalith flew through wall after wall as Geek unleashed a full out Dragon Pulse attack. Gigalith tried grabbing on to rocks or boulders to slow down his flight, but everything he grabbed just broke off and started flying with him. Geek kept going on and on, until finally he gave out and fell to his knees. Panting and exhausted, Geek pointed to the orb.
"Destroy... the... orb..." he said through very weak and ragged breaths.
Volt helped Geek stand up, while Marowak walked over, raised the bone, and smashed the orb to pieces. Geek and Volt sat in a corner of the room while Marowak began scooping up pieces of the orb and stuffing them in his bag, then watched him as he copied down all of the writings and drawings on the remaining walls in the ruin. Wave came into the room a few moments later.
"Woah, you guys look like you had fun," Wave said hesitantly as he saw the huge crater in the wall, Geek and Volt in the corner, and Marowak's injured body walking along observing all of the writing.
"Oh shut it," Volt said as he looked at Wave to come over to him.
It was a few hours later before Geek and Marowak were actually in fit shape to move. Geek had run out of stamina and strength, and Marowak was just plain beat up. Wave worked his magic of healing others. After that, everyone started heading out. The whole group left the dungeon and returned home later that night. Even later than that, everyone else started showing up and begging for food. Wave started cooking immediately. After a few more hours of waiting and resting, the group sat down for a long meal. That was when Geek noticed Marowak was gone.
"Hey, where's Marowak?" Geek asked.
"He's in his room. He's been in there trying to decipher those tablets and other paintings for the last couple of hours," Volt replied.
"Oh yeah, about your guys expedition," Lucario said through chewing his food, "How was it? I heard you guys went down that forbidden path in the Outskirts Forest."
"Oh it was great, besides the fact that all of us got our butts handed to us besides Wave," Volt mentioned.
"So I've heard," Gallade chuckled as he said that.
"All in all, it was a great expedition, and a successful one if I do say so myself," Geek said.
"Great. I for one can't wait to see what Marowak uncovers from those tablets," Lucario said as he took a huge bite out of an Oran Berry.
The rest of the evening was normal. Finishing up dinner, sharing tales of exploration and dangerous adventures, and just having a generally good time. Although, one thing stood out to Geek and Volt. Greninja was being oddly silent. Like, more silent than usual. After everyone decided to start heading to bed, Geek and Volt stopped Greninja just outside her door.
"Hey, Greninja, we've got a question for you," Volt said as he stopped Greninja.
"Yeah Volt? What's up?" Greninja replied as she stood in her usual standing position.
"What were you doing earlier today as your, 'secret mission?'" Geek asked as he looked at Greninja hard in the eyes.
"What do you mean?" Greninja asked, puzzled.
"You were in quite a rush to hang up on us when we called you, and Marowak said that you were pretty stressed looking when he passed you on his way to join us," Volt explained.
"Oh that? Heh, I was dealing with some robbers. They apparently took something precious to a Pokémon in the city, and I was tasked with getting it back. You guys just called at a bad time," Greninja chuckled to herself at the thought.
"Mm k then," Geek mumbled as he turned around and started walking off.
Volt said goodnight and followed after Geek, who was deep in thought.
"Do you think she was lying? She's good at that kind of stuff," Volt asked.
"Yeah, but I don't think she was lying. What would she gain from lying to us? If she was trying to cover something up, it wouldn't be like this. This is too obvious," Geek explained.
"Yeah, I guess. So what do you think Marowak is gonna find out? I mean, about us. That room was filled with stuff about us I'm guessing, since it had humans written above it all," Volt stated as he curled up in bed.
"I don't know. We're just gonna have to wait and see," Geek replied, laying down in his own bed and looking out his window.
The stars looked even more beautiful tonight than they did since he came here. The moon glistened in the sky, giving off bright lights in the dark night. Geek reflected on everything that had happened so far in his life here. Onix, meeting Skitty, living in the school for a while, going on explorations with Volt, finding out what was going on with Tsunami, discovering the orbs, meeting the Explorers of Tomorrow, beating Wave, joining the Explorers, and then everything up to now. It really was something. This entire life, all starting out from that one day, in the forest, when he met Skitty and beat Onix. Geek slipped off into his dreams, remembering different times in his life so far, and dreaming of the future to come.
