Twenty Two

Someone was talking in the background but it was hard to make out who. It was muffled up and as he tried to concentrate the pain hit him first. Letting out a groan of pain Barry tired to open his eyes. Then slowly the room came into focus. Everything was a blur but then slowly Caitlin's face came into focus. She was standing over him talking to someone  and he could now hear the voices of Cisco and Juilan. 

"Caitlin, aaahhhh..." He screamed in pain.

"I'm so sorry Barry but I have to do this. Whoever they were they have done a number on you. You have broken bones and a stab wound that looks very bad. You aren't healing as fast as I before," comforted Caitlin. 

She held onto Barrys hands as she explained. Iris arrived and saw Barry was now consious. Barry could see the concern on her face. 

"Im fine, it's not as bad as it looks," he said. 

"Barry if dad hadn't come in on time, you could have been killed," said Iris. 

"Did he get them?" Asked Barry. 

"No they got away but they did enough damage to you to put you out of action for a while," jokes Cisco. 

"Whatever Amanda and they have planned is being moved up and we really need to find out what it is. We are all in danger of what they about to unleash on this city," said Barry. 

"That is not your issue to deal with currently. You have to get better if want to go out there and take them on," Juilian spoke up. 

"I have managed to get the bleeding into control and and the leg and shoulders are all braced. All we can do is..." She stopped. The room was spinning and for a second she didn't know where she was. Looking around she tried to shake off this feeling and then continued. "Umm... Yeah all we have to do is now wait and let the injures heal." 

Barry looked at Caitlin as something about her wasn't quiet right. She was looking a little out of it. "Are you ok?" He asked. 

"Yeah, just think I need to eat soemting. You rest up and I'll come and check up on you later."

Caitlin made her way to the kitchen  area to get something to eat. She stopped at the entrance and looked around. For a second this place didn't look familiar. She looked around trying to remember where everything was. Then she felt a hand on her shoulders as  turned around to find Juilian. 

"Are you really ok or just saying to Barry."

"Like I said Juilian, I'm good. Just need some thing to eat." 

"Not looking good for us now is it," he said. 

Caitlin looked at him and smiled. She was confused but this statement. "What do you mean." She questioned. 

"Well we have so much happening and now Barry is out of action. He was already running out of time with all that is happening, and then the whole memory theif story came along and he got side tracked," replied Juilian. 

Still confused by what Juilain was going on about, Caitlin turned to him, "Juilian please tell me truthfully what is going on. I know there is something that he isn't telling me and it's killing me. I know he thinks he is protecting me but I want to help." 

"Caitlin, one thing that I have learnt since I have started working with you guys here is that we trust each other. Even if the decisions that they make comes with consequences, we trust each other." 

This all was getting too much for her to process. Everyone was going on about a situation yet no body wanted her to know.

"I know that everyone must have asked you this question millions of time and you are over answering it but how are you holding up with this all. It has been hard on you too with not being able to remember all this," said Juilian. 

Caitlin gave a sarcastic smile. I would like to say that it was easy to wake up one day and not remember what has been happening but that would be a lie. I feel like I'm not able to do much for this team because I can't remember much. It's killing me not being able to remember working with Barry and Joe. And who is Wally." 

"I wish I could make it better but I can't. We are all trying and I know that everyone wishes that they could just make it all go away but with the whole Savitar and now this, everyone are too spread out and mentally drained."

"Again that name. Savitar, who is he?"

"You dont need to worry about that. Our main focus is to find Jules and John and that mystery metahuman." 

"The DNA is in the process and soon we will be able to identify who it belongs to. Juilian, Barry won't lie to me would he?" Asked Caitlin. 

"For as long as I have known Barry, he cares about you all and he would do whatever he can to protect you all. Sometime I don't agree on his methods but he is the one at the end of the day fighting to keep this city safe. I however do feel that he is taking on too much. I told him that he needs help and I know a way to get it yet he doesn't want it." 

This got Caitlin thinking. Why would Barry refuse help when he had a problem. Was Juilian right, was Barry really hiding something and was a control freak. Was what Caitlin saw not the real deal? There were too many question and no one was willing to answer them. It all made Caitlin question her role in this team and Barry as a leader.
