Forty Five

Barry ran with Killer Frost in hand and didn't stop until he was far away from STAR Labs. He place her down and with a startled, Killer Frost came to a stop herself. She looked around to find that she was now standing in an quiet street clearly miles away from the Lab. A smile creeped on her face at this.

"You really think that you can just take me away from the Lab and I will give up on killing Tracey?" she asked.

"I don't know what he had said to you and why what he says is more important to you, but like I said before. I'm not going to let you become a killer," replied Barry. "I'm not going to let Savitar win."

At this Killer Frost stopped and looked at Barry for a second as she scanned his expression. "You truly have figured out who he is, haven't you?"

"Yes," answered Barry.

"That doesn't change the fact that he is and will always will be a step ahead of you."

Distracted at this Barry didn't notice that Killer Frost had come close to him. Only when a sharp pain rose in his leg did he realise that he had stabbed him with an ice crystal. He stumbled back and pulled out the crystal.

"It wont be long before Savitar will get what he wants and Iris will fall. You couldn't and wont be able to do anything."

"I will do everything in my power to change her fate," said Barry through the pain.

"Oh, what you think that just because you have broken up with iris, you have changed the future? Yeah, we know. However, that doesn't change the fact that she is still important to you. When you lose everything that you love and care for, then you will understand the pain and suffering of us."

"Caitlin, I have lost a lot already. I saw my parents murdered in front of me. And recently I lost the one thing that I cared about... Only because I let her slide away. I know me saying this doesn't change anything but I'm sorry."

Killer Frost stopped and the smile from her face was gone. She stared at Barry and for a split second, Barry could see the old Caitlin in there. She looked at him with the same warm care that she had.

"Barry... I..." but then she was gone. Killer Frost's cold glace looked at him. "Sorry to break it to you, but the person that cared about you, is dead. And I truth be told, she cared more for you then you can ever imagine. Yet, she is the one left standing in the cold.

And with a wave of her hand, Barry went flying back. Spikes of crystal rose and trapped his legs. He struggled to pull his legs out even though he vibrated rapidly. The stabbed wound still bleeding.

"Cait... Caitlin... please..." but it was no use. She walked away.

Savitar waited silently as Killer Frost came in once again. She stopped when he saw him waiting for her.

"I know that I failed again, but I'm not giving up anytime soon. They still don't know why we are after her and Iris's time is nearly up."

"You better hope that they don't figure it out."

Killer Frost walked away and Savitar watched after her. Something was going through his mind and he wasn't going to share it with her... just yet.

Barry came into the cotex limping and found the others recovering from Killer Frost's attack.

"What happened to you?" asked Cisco.

"She is in no mood to hear what we have to say. She is completely taken in what Savitar... or future me is telling her to do."

"Wait.. what?" asked Iris and HR together.

Barry filled them in on what he suspected and which now was confirmed by Killer Frost.

"But why do you want her dead? You love Iris and it doesn't make any sense?"

"Are you sure that they aren't just messing with you?"

At that point, Barry wasn't interested in anything other than a way to help Caitlin. Under the whole cold and killer self, he was sure that he had a glimpse of Caitlin. She was still there, fighting for a way out.

"Barry are you even listening?" asked Iris.

Snapping out, he saw that now everyone was looking at him. "We need to figure out why they are after Tracey. Tracey is our key to saving Caitlin... and Iris."

"I think I may know what they are after. Looking at what she has been working on," explained Cisco.

*** Ok so I'm not clear on the whole science detail of what Tracey Brand did in the show. So I'll leave at that ***

"If you are correct and that Savitar is a fragment of the future than maybe so is the reason behind him wanting her dead," added Julian.

"It's not what she is has done to him that is the reason behind her death bounty... It's what she will do that is the reason."

Barry looked from Julian to Cisco waiting for a response.

"I think she has something to do and the reason behind Savitar's defeat," answered HR. "She will be the one that finally brings a stop to him and that is the reason why he is after her now. Stop her from ever creating whatever that will stop him."

Somehow it all made sense to him. If they were right, then, Killer Frost wasn't giving up anytime soon. They had to find a way to keep Tracey safe and find a way to safe Iris and Caitlin. They had spent so much time preparing for this moment and now it was getting closer. This was going to change the course of their timeline and Barry had to make sure that he stayed focused. Three people's lives were at stack here.

Barry stopped and watched Julian as he went with Tracey and HR. Was Julian still under Savitar's control? Could he really trust him especially after what Caitlin had said? How safe was Iris really even after breaking up with her? Did that change her fact or not?

There were too many questions running through his mind as he tried to calm himself and focus. This was no time to over think or rush into things.
