Shindig Diner

I waited for one full minute after Kathleen’s departure before turning my attention back to Miguel and his company. I punched him on the shoulder.

“Ouch! What was that for?” His hands automatically soothing the pained shoulder.

“Why did you let Kathleen talk to her like that?” I was mad at him, no scratch that furious at him for not even defending the poor lady.

“What do you mean?” His innocent reply jerked my anger more.

“Don’t play dumb!” I glared at him. I punched his shoulders once more. “Stop acting like it hurts, sa laki ng katawan mong yan!”

“I really don’t understand where the anger is coming from.”

“Ay ewan ko sa iyo!” I was done talking to him. He was a headache. Binaling ko na lang ang atensyon ko dun sa babaeng umoobserba lang sa amin. “I’m sorry for butting in unnecessarily. Just a piece of advice, dump him!” Tumalikod na ako pabalik kina Lexy.

Pustahan tayo, may manghahablot nanaman ng kamay. In 3…, 2…,

Tumayo si Miguel at hinila ako ni pabalik sa dati kong inupuan kanina. Told yah!

“Ang init na lang palagi ng ulo mo. Would you first listen to my explanation.” Natatawang sabi nito. Sumimangot ako. Sige tumawa ka pa ng tumawa. Sa iyo lang mainit ang ulo ko FYI.

“This is Andrea.” Pakilala nya sa babae. Tinignan ko ito, She was smiling warmly I couldn’t help but smile back. “And I don’t think she heard any of Kathleen’s squabbling.”

“What made you say that?” The frown returned as my gaze shifted back to Miguel.

“Basically because she’s deaf.”

“She’s what?” Nagulat ako. Napatingin ulit ako kay Andrea, nakangiti pa rin ito as if she knew that I already know. “For real?” I guessed my eyes questioned it too as I saw her nod in response.

“Pero bakit hindi mo pa rin pinigilan si Kathleen?” Yun naman talaga ang kinainisan ko, wala syang ginawa.

Tumawa ito. “I would have, kaso one hand firmly stopped me from doing so.” Tumingin sya kay Andrea. Ngumiti ang dalaga. Nagsign language ito. Hindi ko naintindihan.

“She said she didn’t want me getting into trouble.” Miguel explained. He probably knew I didn’t understand what she acted.

“If you weren’t going to do anything, how would you expect Kathleen to stop?”

“Well I was hoping an angel would come.” He grinned.

I rolled my eyes. Patawa talaga ito! Puwede magwalk out?

He cleared his throat. “Well, the guard was supposed to drag her away.”

Ugh! May guard naman pala eh. Bakit pa ako umeksena?

Akmang aalis na ako nang bigla na lang tumayo si Andrea at sinalubong ang isang lalaking kakapasok lang sa restaurant. She kissed him on the lips. Ah eh, what just happened?
