"Jesse you don't have to come in," I murmur as I head towards my front door with him on my heels.
"No it was my fault for taking you there, I should take responsibility," he argues and I only sigh in fear. Slowly walking into my house I see my mother standing with her arms crossed, she's been waiting.

"Mom..." I start.
"Kira how dare you do that to me! do you know how worried I was about you? I thought he―" she screams but abruptly stops when she sees Jesse standing behind me.
"Mrs. Williams I take full responsibility I was the one who took Kira out―" he starts to explain when he's quickly interrupted.
"No Jesse, my daughter should know that she's not allowed to leave the house like that," she turns back to me, a scowl on her face and her lips in a thin line.
"Jesse would you please excuse my daughter and me," she states her eyes still trained on me.

I take a side glance to Jesse to see those stupid dark green eyes analyzing the who situation before he finally clenches his jaw and with one last glance at me, he turns around. Stopping at the door he turns to my mother, "I'm sorry if there's anyone to blame it's me," and with that, he leaves, not giving my mother room for argument.

Turning back to my mother I feel my heart clench as tears are in her eyes. I know it must've been hell for her to come home for her lunch break and for me to be missing, without warning at that, I just can't believe I was that stupid to not tell her I was going.
"Kira," she hisses out as the first tear falls, "I hope you know I'm trying very hard to be angry at you but... but," she begins to stutter as more tears fall and she quickly wraps her arms around me engulfing me in a hug.

"Mom I was so stupid and I'm so sorry," I explain as she lets out a light sob.
"I just thought he found you and I was so..." she stutters again, "So scared."
"I'm so sorry."
"Just promise me you'll never leave like that ok?" she asks pulling back and looking me dead in the eye.

"I promise."

The next day at school is beyond awkward, everyone obviously catches onto me faking my sickness due to me being perfectly fine and healthy. I also don't exactly know how to act around Jesse, do I say hi? Do I acknowledge his existence? I really don't know.

The first period, however, is an easy breeze, I fill in Katie on what I did yesterday as she quickly disapproves my hanging out with Jesse but acknowledges I didn't really have much of a say in the matter. Second period, however, which is the first class I have with Jesse, couldn't have been weirder.

Taking my usual seat in the back next to Katie Jesse strolls in, not making any eye contact but plopping in a seat next to me while pretending I'm not here. Well ok, then two can play at that game. Turning to Katie I begin to whisper with her throughout the entire class, my back being turned to him.
"Miss Williams am I interrupting something?" the teacher asks snottily and I turn to her with raised eyebrows.
"Yeah my adolescence," I scoff earning a chuckle from a few classmates while the rest actually start to pay attention. The teacher's face forms a scowl and I know I'm on the brink of detention, "No ma'am nothing important," I sigh and a look of triumph appears on her face as she turns back to the board.

Leaning back in my seat I hear a deep chuckle from next to me and I turn to see Jesse smirking.
"What?" I quirk an eyebrow while crossing my arms.
"You take pride in being a goody two shoes when you're not even one," he chuckles.
"I am too, she was being snotty and I just gave her what she deserved," I defend.
"Exactly, any goody two shoes would be like, 'oh oh I'm sorry miss it shall never ever happen again miss please forgive me for I have done wrong'," he whispers in a high pitched girly voice and I roll  my eyes with a small smile growing at the corner of my lips.
"No..."
"Miss Williams, Mr. Wolf, detention," the teacher states firmly and I bite my lip to prevent a wince.
"Nice going goody two shoes."
