The Darkness Inside

Ch:12

I leaned to the side and turned the lamp on. I got up out of bed and walked over to the door. I opened the door slowly and peeked out of the crack. Ricky was leanign against the wall with his head buried in his shoulder. I opened the door the whole way and I asked "Rocky whats wrong"? He asked "where were you"? I said "I was at the ball the whole time, I looked for you and Becky, but I couldnt find you".

Ricky looked me straight in the eyes and asked "who was that"? I said "a guy I met at the ball". He asked "you like him"? I said "yeah, but you really shouldnt be concerned about who I like". His eyes started to water as he said "I liked you Shelby, I liked you a lot". I said "I know you did, but you dont need to be with a girl like me". He laughed and said "I cant have you, but that emo creep gets to". I said "he's not an emo creep, he's a really nice guy".

Ricky laughed as he walked into my apartment. I shut the door and walked over to him. I said "you dont want to get involved with me". He looked at me and said "but thats the thing, I do, I want to be the lucky guy that gets to love you". I said "look your a really nice guy, but..." Ricky cut me off and said "but nothing".

I put my hand on his shoulder and I asked "why are you acting like this". He said "because I want to be with you Shelby, I am better than that creep. He wears make-up for christ sakes". I said "I think his make-up is cute". He laughed and asked "what about me dont you like"?

I sat on my bed and said "well for one your attitude". He laughed and asked "what else". I said "look my wolf told me that Chris is the guy for me". Ricky said "aaahhh, so his name is Chris, and now your big bad wolf is falling inlove with him".

I said "She is very smart, if she wanted me to be with you she would have told me, but she said that I should be with Chris. Theres something about him that...I'm just drawn to him". Ricky said "bullshit, remember that night on your bed when you and me kissed". I said "you were drunk, and I didnt kiss you back, I pushed you away".

My wolf started to growl so I said to her "calm down, I think he is drunk now too". Ricky got in my face and said "just give me one kiss, and if you dont feel anything I will leave". I said "your leaving now, and I'm not kissing you". Ricky tried to move in for a kiss, but I put my hands around his throat and my eyes turned black.

I yelled at my demon not to hurt him. I fought with all of my might to get my body back. Ricky said "Shelby, calm down, your eyes are black". I screamed my banshee scream and my demon went away. When I came back I continued to scream and it peirced Ricky's ears. He covered them and his face contorted in pain from my scream.

I let Ricky go and I dropped to my knees. He knelt down beside me and he asked "are you ok"? I said "I think so...it takes a lot of strenght to take control". He said "I knew you wouldnt hurt me". I said "well I cant make any promises, you got lucky". He placed a hand on the back of my head and leaned in. His lips met mine and I automatically pushed him away.

I grabbed him by the collar of his shirt and I said "I'm sorry Ricky, but I'm with Chris". I walked him to the door and pushed him out into the hallway. I shut the door behind me and I locked it tightly. I walked over to my bed and I laid down. I crawled under the covers and I turned off my lamp again. I closed my eyes, but I couldnt fall asleep.

I felt bad for Ricky. I have neglected his affection, but there was something about Chris that made me want him and only him. I heard crying in the hall so I got up and I walked back over to the door. I opened it the slightest bit and saw Ricky hunched over crying into his hands. I opened the door and I walked over to him. I knelt down beside him and I started to rub his back.

He cried as he said "I'm sorry". I said "no, I'm sorry". I helped him up and I brought him into my apartment. I shut the door behind us and I used my wolf eyes to see in the darkness of the apartment. I walked us over to my bed and I laid down. He laid down with me and wrapped his arm around me. I said "dont get any bright ideas. I'm doing this as a friend".

Ricky asked "how can you forgive me"? I said "well friends forgive friends". I leaned back against the bed post so that I was sitting up. I laid Ricky's head down on my lap and I stroked through his hair. I wiped the tears off of his face and I said "stop crying".

He rubbed his eyes and pulled the blankets up over us. I slid down so that I was now laying down. I turned away from him and I said "go to sleep, but when you wake up you should head over to your apartment". He said "first thing in the morning, I promise".

As I closed my eyes to fall asleep Ricky inched his hand from my waist to my thigh. I grabbed his hand and moved it off of me. I said "touch me again and I will break your arm". He said "ok, sorry". He moved away from me and I moved away from him.

I thought about Chris and the thought of him made me fall asleep within seconds. My wolf talked to me in my dreams saying "I think Chris is the one, and if things dont work out between you guys then you always have Ricky". I said "I know, but I feel like Chris is the one too".

THE NEXT DAY:

I woke up and Ricky was gone. He listened to what I told him to do. It proved to me his loyalty to me. I picked up my phone and turned it on. There was a text from Chris that said "Can I come over in like an hour"? I replied "of courese". Then he texted back "ok see you then"!

I looked at the clock and it said 10 a.m. I got out of bed and I walked over to my now forming closet. I needed more clothes, but I knew exactly what I was going to wear today. I grabbed a pair of black pants that had a cool design on them. They were laced from top to bottom. Then I put on a bra under the cami that I had on. Then I grabbed a shirt that has a ripped design down the back.

My excitement was building up and I could barely hold it in. I couldnt wait to be with him. Ricky knocked on the door and walked into my apartment. I said "hey" as I touched up on my make-up. Most of the make-up that Jamie did was still perfectly on me, but I wanted to add more eye liner and eye shadow to make it darker.

Ricky said "I'm really sorry about last night, I was a bit drunk, but I want you to know that I meant everything that I said last night". After I finished my make-up I got up and walked over to him. I hugged him briefly and said "it's ok, I'm not mad at you, but I dont want you to be mad at me or Chris". He looked down at the ground and said "I know, I will try my hardest not to get jealous, but thats going to be hard because you are beautiful and sweet".

I smiled and said "your a great guy too, but I just need you to understand that my wolf is very smart and intellegent, she likes you, but she said for me to be with Chris, and if it doesnt work out your on the top of the list". He smiled and said "your worth waiting for". My phone rang so I picked it up. Chris texted me "I already left, I just couldnt wait any longer, I will be at your apartment in like 5 minutes". I texted back "I'm cant wait any longer either".

I put my phone in my pocket and I said to Ricky "ummm, if you dont mind...Chris is going to be here at any minute now so do you think you could go back over to your apartment now"! He said "sure" and he walked over to the door. Before he shut it behind him he said "oh yeah and Shelby...I WILL wait for you because you are worth waiting for".
