The Darkness Inside

Ch:38

My heart stopped and my stomach flipped. Ethan said "calm down Shelby, we are in the wood lining, look directly ahead of you". I looked then I seen my pack". Mikayla grabbed the phone then she said "he's after you, but we wont let Reedus touch you or Chris". I said "thanks guys" then I ran back into the hotel.

I locked the door and I made sure that the window was locked. I checked everywhere to make sure Reedus wasnt already in the room. He wasnt so I wlaked back over to the bed. Chris was still sleeping so I sat on the bed next to him.

He moved causeing him to lay his head in my lap. I gently ran my hand through his hair making him comfortable. I wasnt going to sleep now. I was on high alert. My heart was pumping and my stomach was turning. I sat in the bed staring into the darkness of the room.

I wasnt going to let Reedus anywhere near Chris. If it came down to it, I would die for Chris. As long as I knew he was safe I didnt care what would happen to me.  Since Reedus is after me he might know about Chris, but I dont know for certain yet.

If he does...then I might have to tell Chris the truth about me and my kind. If Chris left me I would understand, but I hope he wouldnt. I couldnt think like that right now. I held the phone in my hand ready for the phone o ring at any time.

As I stared into the darkness my phone vibrated. I clicked on it then I put it up to my ear. I asked "what"? Ethan said "we got some company, he and a few of his mutts are here". I said "I wont let him near Chris". Ethan said "Shelby, you and Chris should leave, now, it's not safe here anymore".

I asked "where would we go"? Ethan said "anywhere, but here". I said "if I leave then Reedus will only follow me...no where is safe until he is dead". Ethan said "well he needs to die tonight". I said "I need to call Dustin...I'll call you back".

I hung up the phone then I dialed Dustin's number. He picked up then he said "hey Shelby, how ar...". I cut him off saying "Reedus is here, and he wants to get to me and Chris, they are at the apartment, the rest of the pack is down there defending us, come, and quickly". Dustin said "ok, we're already on our way, just hang in there".

I set the phone down then I heard howled from outside. It was from Reedus. He screamed "SHELBY, YOU CANT HIDE FROM ME FOREVER"! My phone buzzed again. I picked it up and I asked "what now"? Ethan said "get ready, we are gonna have to fight to keep you guys safe". I said "ok, and vamps are on the way, they are on our side...the leaders name is Dustin...he will help you guys".

Ethan said "Ok, they just got here, hang in there Shelby, we will keep you g...". All of a sudden he stopped talking. All that I heard now had the sound of beeping and static coming from the other end of the phone.

My heart was pumping out of control. I began to panic. I had to tell Chris... he needed to know, and I needed to get him some where safe. I lightly tapped him on his shoulder. He opened his eyes then he looked up at me. He said "hey babe". I said "Chris we need to talk and quickly".

He shot up and he tunrned on the lamp that was sitting on my nightstand, He asked "babe, whats wrong"? He cupped his hand on my cheek. I said "I've tried to keep a secret hidden from you to protect you...but now that we are all being threatened you need to know".

Fear appeared into his eyes. He asked "wait...are you dumping me"? I said "god no...I just need to show you something"! I got up off of the bed then I asked "remember how you told me about the story of you and that mysterious animal"? He asked "yeah...why"? I said "what you seen was a werewolf". He let a small laugh out then he said "come on, thats ridiculous, werewolves arent real".

I said "babe, Josh and I are wolves, Mikayla, Jmaie, Becky, Alexia...all of us are wolves". He said "sure you are". I said "I have to show you". I made my eyes shine bright yellow. Then I showed him my wolf claws. Howls came from outside. We both looked, but he quickly looked back at me.

I said "I'm sorry you had to find out this way, I wanted to break it to you slowly, but we are running out of time". He asked "why are you eyes glowing and why are your nails like claws"? I said "just watch, and please dont run...and I just want you to know that I love you so much babe"!

I found my wolf almost instantly then I shifted. His eyes popped open and his jaw dropped. He stared at me in awe. I laid down showing that I was harmless. I whimpered to get a responce from him. He got up and he walked towards me. He kneeled down and he ran his hand through my fur.

I couldnt believe what he was doing. It's like he didnt care. He wasnt afraid of me. I quickly shifted back then I got up off of the floor. He stood up then he said "that was incredible". I asked "so you dont want to dump me and leave me"? He said "god no, Shelby...I love you, no matter what you are, it will just take some time to get used to...this".

I said "well hopefully you get used to it in the next minute because my ex werewolf mate is outside right now. He is trying to get to me and you. I need to get you out of here, quickly as possible". He didnt say anything, he just listened to me.

I grabbed his hand then I opened the door. We looked down into the parking lot. Wolves were fighting wolved and the vamps were also fighting the wolves. Josh seen us and I nodded to him. He nodded back then he howled "we lost Reedus".

My heart sank. Just then we heard claw marks scratching the wall behind us. We both turned around and Reedus was staring at us. He was in his human form, but he had is eyes glowing red, his claws out, and his wolf fangs were showing. Reedus said "well, well, well...it's nice to see you again dear. Let me guess, this is your boyfriend"!

I tightened my grip on Chris's hand. Reedus walked towards us as we walked backwards. He continued to drag his nails along the walls. I said "leave him alone Reedus, he has nothing to do with this, you want me...remember"!

He smiled then he said "but...I need to kill him now...to me you are still my mate...I need to break our bond too for us to be officially broken, it's just the regular wolves that take one partner to end the relationship. But with us alpha's it takes both partners, and I'm not gonna break my bond with you".

I said "well that sucks fro you because I love Chris, he treats me right, I dont love you anymore Reedus, I stopped loving you a long time ago". He snarled at me then I snarled back baring my fangs. I growled then I got my nails out. I let go of Chris's hand so I didnt cut him with my claws.

I said "babe, stay behind me". Chris grabbed onto my hand, even as my claws dug into his skin. I said to Reedus "you will have to kill me if you want to get to Chris". Reedus said "see, I'm not gonna do that, I'll just knock you out then I'll kill Chris". I said "your not going to lay a single finger on him.

Reedus laughed then he asked "you really think I'm afraid of you Shelby"? I said "no, but I can try"! I growled and snarled in my powerful alpha voice. Reedus flinched a bit because he was still drawn to me. I intimidated him, and I did in fact scare him.

Chris's hand started to shake and tremble. I looked back and I said "it's ok babe, I wont ever hurt you, but I will hurt him. He wasnt looked at me. He was staring at Reedus. I looked back and I seen that Reedus was in his wolf form. He snarled at me so I snarled back at him.

I said to Chris "stay behind me, I dont want you to get hurt". He asked "but what about you"? I said "dont worry, I'll take care of this bitch, stay back". Reedus shifted back to the wolf and he snarled and growled at me again.

I glowed my eyes at him and I made my claws come out again. I looked back at Chris then I said I love you Chris". He smiled then he said "I love you too". I transformed into my wolf and I made sure to stand proud, tall, mighty, and fierce. I snarled then I lunged after Reedus just as he lunged at me.
