The Darkness Inside

Ch:40

We all sat quietly in the waiting room. I was leaning over in the chair with my face in my hands. Tears were rolling down my cheeks, but I didnt want anyone to know so I tried to be as quiet as I could. Josh put his hand on my back and I looked up. The doctor was coming over to us.

I shot up out of my seat. I quickly walked over to him and I asked "how's Chris"? The doctor said "he's alive for now, but I dont think that he will make it through the night". My heart sank. I asked "what did you say"? He said "he lost a lot of blood, he probably will die before tomorrow".

I started to bawl my eyes out. Josh held onto me as I cried. I pulled it together to say "I can give Chris more blood". The doctor said "you would have to give a lot of it". I said "take all of it if you have to, just make sure that he survives".

Everyone around me smiled because I was showing my love and loyalty towards Chris. The doctor asked "are you sure about this"? I stuck my arm out and I said "let's do it". He said "come this way dear". I followed him into a hospital room.

There lying on the bed was Chris. His eyes were closed. The heart monitor was beeping very slow. I sat down and I pulled a seat next to Chris's bed. I held onto his hand and I didnt let go. I took the remaining pain away that he had.

The doctor pulled up a chair and a small table. I laid my other arm out towards him. He stuck the needle in my arm and he filled up an entire blood bag. I guess begin a wolf has it's benefits because my blood regenerated in a few seconds.

The doctor hooked up the bloodbag to Chris. The blood slowly drained into Chris's arm and into his veins. I said to the doctor "fill up another blood bag"! The doctor said "you could die, you need to stop for now". I said "if you dont do it I will do it myself". The doctor sat back down and filled up another full bag of blood.

The doctor set the bag on a table next to Chris's bed. He turned towards me then he said "incredible, you should be pale right now, you should look sick, but you look healthy". I said "dont worry about how I look, just worry about Chris.

Chris moved his arm slightly so I looked over at him. His eyes were still shut, but the good thing was that he moved. The doctor said "I'll be back to check on him in a few minutes". I smiled then I said "thank you doctor". He smiled back and he said "just doing my job dear".

The blood bag was half empty now. I now that Chris was sleeping, but I knew that he could hear me so I began to talk to him. I pulled my chair even closer to the bed then I held onto his hand tighter then before. I put my lips close to his ears and I began to speak to him.

"I love you Chris. Hang in there. You are a fighter. I know you can make it. Please just dont leave me here alone. I dont think I can live without you babe". Tears rolled down my face again. I leaned over and I kissed him on his lips.

As I kissed him his hang squeezed mine and he weakly kissed me back. I took my lips off of his so I could see his face. He opened his eyes slowly then he said in a hushed whisper "hey babe". I smiled as I cried. As I sniffed I said "hey".

I sat in my seat then I asked "how do you feel"? He said "like I had my stomach ripped open by a homicidal werewolf". I laughed as more tears came out. I said "we didnt get him, but I promise you that I will find him and I will kill him".

Chris weakly picked his hand up. He cupped my cheek and he ran his thumb over my tears. I put my hand over his then I kissed it. I said "I love you Chris". He smiled then he said "I love you too". Just then everybody came into the room, including the doctor.Everybody crowed behind me so the doctor could have the other side of the bed all to himself.

The doctor asked "how are you feeling"? Chris said "It hurts". I instantly took in all of his pain. A painful moan escaped my mouth. The doctor looked at me then he asked "are you ok dear"? I said through clenched teeth "yep".

Chris asked the doctor "how bad is it"? There was silence in the room. The doctor sighed then he said "most likely you might not survive the night". More and more tears ran down my face. The girls gasped while the boys got mad.

Chris sighed and he freaked out a bit. He said "but I'm awake, I should be able to survive". The doctor switched out the blodd bags as he said "yeah, but you lost a lot of blood, and there is still internal bleeding, it's very slow and we couldnt stop it".

Before the doctor walked out he said "all that I can say is good luck to you and try to hang in there as long as possible". Chris looked at me then he said "I love you Shelby. I loved you since the moment I laid eyes on you at the ball". As I cried I said "I love you too".

Josh said "hey bud, hang in there, you will survive, fight as long as you can". Chris said "I never know you were a werewolf". Josh said "yep...I am, pretty cool huh". Chris smiled then he said "yeah". The girls gave sniffed back tears. Josh said "lets give them 2 some privacy". Everybody agreed and they all left the room. As they exited they patted me on the back then they gave Chris a hug.

After they were out of the room I looked into Chris's eyes. There was a mix of terror and happiness in his eyes. Chris smiled then he said "you are the best thing that ever happened to me Shelby. I never though someone would love me as much as you do. You are the first girl that I've fallen completely inlove with".

I squeezed his hand more then I cried into my hand. He said "please dont cry babe". I said "your gonna make it. You will be ok. We can spent the rest of our lives together". Chris smiled and he said "that would be nice, but we both know that it's not gonna happen". I said "no, you WILL live".

There was a moment of silence so Chris said "I'm dying Shelby, and you know that. I will love you forever and I will always be with you, even if you cant see me". I said "I dont want you to leave me, your all I have left. Please just stay alive. Keep fighting as long as you can".

He grew even weaker. He whispered "can I have one last kiss"? I said "of course, but it's not going to be your last". I got up then I put my face close to him. I put my lips on his and we kissed again. Tears rolled off of my cheeks and onto his.

All of a sudden he stopped kissing me. His hand didnt hold mine anymore. The heart monitor went to a constand beeping sound. I looked over at it. It was a straigh line. I screamed "NO"! They all came running into the room. I broke down crying so Josh ran over to me. I was about to drop to my knee's, but Josh caught me. He wrapped his arms around me as I cried hysterically into his shoulder. He was dead...Chris was dead.
