What Does The Monkey Say?

One month later
*Ashley's POV*

"Mama, when is Tyler coming?" Everleigh asks, tilting her head to the side.

"Pretty soon." I say smiling. Today is Tyler and I's one month anniversary and we are planning on going to the zoo with Everleigh.

"Yay! I can't wait to see him!" She jumps up and down, her pigtails bouncing with her.

"Me either cupcake." I say, tossling her hair. "In the mean time, what would you like to do?"

Everleigh's silent for a minute. "Go swimming?"

I shake my head. "Sorry Ev, we won't have time for that." Everleigh frowns.

"Go on the trwampowine?" She asks. I laugh.

"Everleigh, we don't have a trampoline silly goose!" A few weeks ago we went over to the neighbor's house and they had a trampoline. Ever since then that's all Everleigh talks about!

"Ahh," Everleigh says frowning. "May you please push me on the swing?" she asks hopeful.

"Sure." I take Everleigh's hand in mine and we walk down stairs and out the patio door into the backyard. Everleigh lets go and races to her favorite swing, the one right in the middle.

"Give me a big push mommy!" Everleigh yells excitedly. I use all my strength to push the swing as high as I can.

"Weeeee!" Everleigh squeals. I continue to push Everleigh on the swing, her giggles never ceasing.

"My turn, my turn!" Tyler calls, racing into the backyard, flailing his arms above his head. Everleigh errupts into shrieks of laughter.

"How's my monkey?" Tyler asks, swooping Everleigh off the swing and launching her into the air, causing her to shriek louder.

"Ooh ooh ahh ahh!" Everleigh says, still laughing. Tyler kisses her forehead and sets her down again. Then he glides towards me and pulls my body close to his, keeping a firm hand on my back.

"Hey babe." He says, kissing me. I kiss him back. Once we pull apart, he embraces me in a hug.

"You ready for this?" he asks. I nod my head.

"You bet, but not as much as Everleigh is. She's been talking about it all week!"

Tyler laughs. "What can I say? The kid loves me!"

I look longingly into his brown eyes. "She's not the only one." I say, and kiss him again. He kisses my forehead, and I breathe in his cologne.

"Should we go now?" Tyler asks, pulling away. I shake my head.

"Shoot, I totally forgot about lunch!" I say, slaming my palm against my head.

"Nonsense! I've got it covered." Tyler says, draping his arm around my shoulders.

"Are you sure-"

"Mommy! When are we weaving to the zoo?" Everleigh asks, tugging on my sundress. Tyler laughs.

"I'm positive. Ev, should we go to the Jack in The Box for lunch?"

Everleigh's blue eyes light up. "YEAH!" she squeals excitedly. Tyler bends down to her level.

"Ok, let's go then!" Tyler says, reaching his hand out.

"Tyler, can we go in yours car?" Everleigh asks hopeful. Tyler nods.

"Yay!!!" Everleigh takes his hand and skips all the way to the car.

"You coming, Ash?" Tyler asks, looking back. "This little monkey is hungry!"
