What You Don't Know Won't Hurt

The next day
*Ashley's POV*

I hardly slept last night. My mind kept wandering back to Ryan. True yesterday went way better than I thought, and yes I really enjoyed myself, but for some reason something didn't sit right with me and I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Eventually my mind was able to calm down and I was able to fall asleep. Now today, Everleigh and I are spending the day with Tyler. As much as I love Tyler, I am dreading today. I don't feel like I can spend time with him and lie to his face the whole time. That's not fair to me or him. But on the other hand, I can't tell him about Ryan, not yet anyway. I need to make sure I'm making the right decision before I just jump right into things.

I lie in bed, just thinking. The sun is bright outside my window and I know it won't be long until Ev wakes up. Just then my ring tone goes off. It's a text from Tyler.

I wasn't completely honest

I wasn't completely honest. Part of me can't wait, but part of me wishes I could crawl inside a hole and disappear forever. My door creaks open, light shining through the crack. A little messy haired, bare footed Everleigh tip toes over to my bed and scrambles beneath the covers.

"Hi mommy." She says, her crystal blue eyes peeping up at me. I smile down at her.

"Hi Ever. Good morning baby."

"Good morning mommy!" Are we going to see my daddy again today?" I sigh.

"No, not today. Today we get to see Tyler!" I say, nudging her a bit.

"Yay!" She squeals, her face lighting up. I can't help but smile. It makes me happy to see my little girl happy, even if I'm in the worst possible mood.

"Mommy may we watch some Tv?" Everleigh asks, giving me her best pouty lip.

"Ok, but you're not supposed to be giving me the pouty lip yet!" I say, tickling her all over. She collapses into a ball, squealing loudly.

"Mommy stop!" Everleigh says, barely able to get the words out because she's laughing so hard.

"Ok, ok, I'm done. Let's watch some cartoons now." I say, reaching for the remote. Everleigh snuggles up against my chest underneath the warm blankets.

"I love you mama." She says, her bright blue eyes and contagious smile warming my heart.

"I love you too." I say, kissing her messy mob of blonde hair.

After sitting through two episodes of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, I figured it was probably time to get up. I drew a bubble bath for Everleigh and I because we both were in need of a good hair washing, and then we got dressed. Everleigh insisted on wearing her rainbow tights with a polka dotted skirt, a plaid tee shirt, and winter boots. She was devestated when I told her she needed to wear something else, and after a lot of tears, I finally got her to settle on her white tank with the words Enjoy the Little Things, paired with her light pink button down cartagain, jean capris, white nikes, and a floral headband.
