Give Him My Affection.

Throughout the rest of the day, you tried your damnedest to forget what was to come tomorrow. You spent time making lunch with Rick, something neither of you found to be as awkward as you had expected. Instead, the two of you worked together as though it were a prepared dance, moving in sync and knowing what the other was doing before you had to ask. That was what you found to be the most calming throughout the day. When you'd finished and had a nice laugh about how easily that came to you, Rick had pulled you to the couch to watch a movie.

About halfway through, you absentmindedly leaned on Rick as he had his arm resting on the back of the couch. You glanced up to make sure he was fine with it once you realized what you were doing, and smiled when he seemed fine with it. He had even brought his arm down and laid it on you as you pulled your legs up onto the couch and laid comfortably on him.

The family was only mildly confused as they went about their days, knowing that you two tended to be more affectionate than most work partners. You were especially glad that they never asked if there was anything more there.

You would personally describe what you had with Rick as a flirtationship. You were slightly more than just friends, yet you'd never actually fooled around, and you weren't doing anything defined by being in a relationship. You both just kinda sat in the middle.

As the movie continued, Beth wandered through the living room to grab a forgotten soda, smiling down at you two as she passed. Summer had moved by and quickly snapped a photo before you told her to send it to you without Rick noticing. He merely grumbled and asked her to go away. She gave you a thumbs up, assuring you she'd send it so you could add it to the others you'd taken, before walking away with a giggle. You may not be friends with her, but you two did get along.

During the movie, a very romantic, adult scene came up. You watched with a small smile, remembering what it felt like to treat sex like something sacred instead of just a way to cope, how it felt to actually 'make love' as so many put it, instead of fooling around with somebody you never planned on sticking around with. At this point, Rick had begun to rub your side absentmindedly, watching intently as you glanced up to gauge his reaction.

You gave a small 'aw' when the actors had confessed their feelings for one another before giving themselves completely to their partners, finding it cute. You couldn't help but blush slightly at the actual sexual actions on screen, something you'd always done. Sure, you could do it no problem, but watching it just had some weird effect on you different than actually participating.

When the movie had finally ended, you sat up and stretched out, watching as Rick stood and moved towards the disc reader. "Another?" You nodded with a smile, glancing over at the arrangement. "Pick something scary."

You watched as Rick shrugged and moved through the assortment, finally selecting a film and popping it into the reader. When he returned, you resumed your position, laying on him as you watched the cheesy horror film opening.

Nearly halfway through the movie, you were laughing at a dumb woman who hadn't taken the full two minutes she had to stand and run away, watching as she was caught. "It's not like he was sprinting at her or anything. She coulda gotten out of there and survived if she just stood." Rick laughed, agreeing with you.

The jump scares hadn't really gotten either of you as you sat straight-faced through the entire film. You had both spent the time critiquing the cliche murder scenes, commenting on how they could've, and should've, used less blood in some scenes and really worked on their jump scare buildups.

Rick glanced down at your phone on the table near the arm of the couch, pressing the home button and checking the time. "Well, kid, wanna go out to eat? There's a nice off-planet place I know of." You smiled and sat up, "Sure."
