"Hey, how ya feelin?" I asked my patient, Keith. He had just gotten out of a car accident. It wasn't bad, he just had a few scratches. Nothing too serious.

"Tired." He croaked out. I nodded and admired the side of his face. He looked like he could be a model. The door opened. I'm guessing it was his mother.

"Oh my baby! Lord save him!" She yelled. I bit my lip, trying to stifle my laugh.

"Ma'am, he's fine. He just has a few scratches." I pointed to the cuts on his outer wrist and one on his chest. "He can leave later after we run a few more tests on him."

"Oh thank ya Jesus!" She yelled before hugging me. I laughed and hugged her back.

"Mama, can you cut on some of that old school?" He muttered. She immediately got off of me and sat in the visitors chair. She went through her black phone.

"I'll let you two bond before the-"

"No, Jesus sent you here as a sign. Stay in here baby girl." His mom said. I was gonna disagree but I can't argue with the spirit. I stood beside the bed and crossed my arms.

"Foolish or mesmerized?" His mom asked.

"Foolish." He answered. The Ashanti hit started playing through her phone.

I smiled. That's my favorite song by her. I play it all the time. Especially when I'm cleaning.

This song described all my relationships. Me putting all my love in a boy and him either rejecting it, or not caring about it.

"My days are cold without youuu." Keith sang. I laughed and leaned against the sink.

"Gon head sing girl. We not judgin ya." His mama said. I shook my head. "I'm fine."

"Sing for me, please." He slowly turned his head and looked at me before licking his lips. "Please."

I smiled and looked down at my blue scrubs. "Okay. Let me hit my part." I bobbed my head to the beat, waiting for my favorite part. "
See, when I get the strength to leave you, always tell me that you need me and I'm weak cause I believe you and I'm mad because I love you so I stop and think that maybe you can learn to appreciate me then it all remains the same that you ain't never gonna changeee." I sing with Ashanti while doing the hand motions and everything. I got too into the song.

"I like you." Keith smiled at me, showing his pristine teeth. I smiled and waved him off.
