Her hand holds mine while we stand in the arena. This was her birthday present to me, a concert, one of my favourite bands playing in Toronto and she's taking me and my friends. She even offered to make it a boys night but I couldn't make her stay home, she already does so much for me and if I let her stay at home she would've probably cooked or something just for me. She's too nice to me like that, she'd do anything I wanted. "Woah!" I yell, making her smile her head lays against my shoulder but I move to much for it to stay there. She lets my hand go pulling at the hoodie she wears.
"You want a drink?" I shake my head and she nods walking off. "I'll be back soon," she mumbles asking all of my friends and taking very specific orders before returning to tell me what everyone else is getting to try and persuade me for some unknown reason. "I'll be right back," she kisses my lips going off for the alcohol.
"Why is she so nice?" Matt rests his arm on my shoulder, I shrug watching her off while she hugs someone smiling and posing for pictures. She's really getting popular now and she makes a lot of money, most of it goes away for our kids and to pay off the house we've been looking at. "She's known me less than twenty four hours." He chuckles.
"Weren't you at the wedding?" I raise an eyebrow and he shakes his head.
"Couldn't make it remember?" I nod even though I don't. I can't even remember who my best man was but I do remember every single bead that was embroidered onto the perfect dress my lover wore on that day, the day of days. It was beautiful, she was beautiful, everything was so beautiful.
"Fuck she's got a nice ass," Brian breaths while finally she walks off. I roll my eyes pushing him away but when she comes back it's her boobs he's staring at.
"Eyes?" I say a little sternly but all he does is roll them.
"They're so nice though," she looks around not paying much attentions to us. "Can't you just give me one night?" He teases but I know he could do it. That's what scares me about her, I don't like her leaving by herself. If something happened to her she wouldn't be able to stop it, she'd panic and then she freezes and she can't move, it has a lot to do with nerves I've hit in the past and then that final hit after our honeymoon.
"Nothing, you don't even get to look at her anymore." I growl very seriously, she returns with everyone's drink and she distributes them all as quickly as she can.
"They'll let me out and back in," she mumbles showing me the stamp on her hand. "Will you let me go out and have a smoke?" I gasp at her and shake my head making her groan. "Just one, that's all, send someone with me I don't care but I can't pretend I'm not still craving it every day." She pleads.
"You don't need it though love," everyone jumps around the open arena screaming and bobbing their head up and down.
"I can't do this forever, I'm not ok Shawn, and I can't pretend that I am." She sighs a little bit nods at me pushing me to continue enjoying the concert. She proceeds to drink excessive amounts of alcohol trying to satisfy her craving. Usually she can find something to do instead but she can't now, I kinda feel bad, the least I could let her do is go out for a cigarette. But I really don't want to let her throw her life away, she can do so much more.
"If I give you this one cigarette, I won't ever give you any more," I whisper in her ear. "But I'll let you go out if you go now, and it's quick, and you bring someone with you, anyone but Brian." I groan a little at him while he continues to eye her up. I grab her butt only to try and get ride of Brian's stare.
"Is Ian good?" She looks up at me with her big, brown, perfect dough eyes and I nod.
"Fine, and you only get one cigarette," I point and she nods. I know she'll be much happier when she returns right now she's just uncomfortable.
"Where are they going?" Brian rubs his hands together solely to tease me.
"She's going to smoke," I shrug and he gasps.
"That's a deal breaker," he shakes his head making me smile.
"And her being married wasn't?" I raise an eyebrow. He shrugs and I scoff.
"She's hot, and she was sweating," he practically drools. "But smoking is unattractive." He shakes his head and I roll my eyes while she comes back in.
"Hi baby," she giggles jumping into my arms. She sounds very high and I knew this would happen, I just hope it's not too bad.
"Hi," I hug her while her legs wrap around my waist. She'll be more fun, like this and she'll be less awkward.
"It was meth, she had meth," Ian points as if trying to prove his innocence.
"She knows the rules," I nod at him holding her against me. "She knows her rules," I mumble setting her down. She won't be high for long and she'll try and force drinks down my throats to get me drunk because I never get out.
"Dance with me?" She smiles innocently pressing her cheek against her shoulder after sliding off of me. Her sparkling eyes dart back up to my own while she bats her long eyelashes.
"Ok princess," I smile and she presses herself up against me grinding her hips up against me. "Is this dancing?" I smile at her nod. Her frantic excited nod.
"I'll dance with you," Brian's eyes go wide. She laughs leaning against me shaking her head at Brian.
"Is he blind?" She pouts a little.
"Why would you think he's blind?" We turn back to the stage as the act returns.
"Because he obviously can't see you here."
