"Out. I need sleep." Hayley pulled up outside Ashley's house. Parked in the driveway but the engine still running.
"Petrol is money. Money is time. Time is sleep."
"We get it, your tired." I flashed Hayley a smile before following Ashley out of the car. I pressed my hands against the wound down window frame.
"Yes?" Hayley raised an eyebrow.
"Hey don't be a bitch with me."
"What's that meant to mean?" I smiled at her, it was a knowing smile. I probably looked sly, coy, cocky- but it was funny. Hayley rolled her eyes, her cheeks heated up and she laughed, it lasted 3 seconds, it was bright and small and just for me.
"Are you coming?"-Her smile disappeared-Ashley shouted to me from the door frame. "Come on."
"Two seconds." I turned back to Hayley. She wore a sour look on her face. "Don't worry- we're just sleeping. That's the plan anyway." Her face turned into a scowl. I ran from the window and jogged towards the house.
"You're not funny." I heard Hayley call from her car.
"Get home safe, Rhys." I winked from the driveway and waited for Hayley to drive off. Jealousy didn't suit her, but I found myself smiling anyway.

"So this is it." Ashley pushed open her bedroom door and flicked a small switch on her desk. Twinkling fairy lights on the boarder of her room lit up. It was almost magical. I didn't think she was that girl. It's not that she put out a bold and loud persona, it's that she didn't seem content in just be the cute quote girl. Although her room was the epitome of serene. It was white and beige. Not small but quaint and well put together. A desk sat in the far right, opposite her wardrobe, along with a covered piano. The bed lay down in the middle of the room. It was queen size, enough to fit 3 of me.
"Uhh the bathrooms that way." Ashley pointed to closed door next to the bed.
"Oh I just need to crash for a few hours. I'll stay on top." She raised eyebrow and smiled.
"On top of...?"
"The sheets." I quickly finished "I meant I'll sleep on top of the sheets." Shit.
"Whatever. I umm, I'm gonna change in the bathroom." She smiled at me and sauntered into the room. I wasn't sure exactly how to take it, I was confused. I didn't know exactly the outcome of tonight. I knew my intentions but not hers. Just before she closed the bathroom door she stopped.
"Montgomery. Relax, we're sleeping with each other. We're not sleeping together." I smiled and sat on the bed. She watched me cautiously, I think she was unsure of how to act. Maybe she was just as uncertain as me. "Hey Ash. Relax, we're sleeping with each other. We're not sleeping together." She smiled back and shook her head.
"What wise scholar said that?"
"Oh you know, this pretty friend of mine."
"Friends. I like that." She grabbed a towel from her wardrobe. "I'll be back in a hour."
"60 minutes? What, do you put make up on for bed?"
"Ha. Ha." She laughed sarcastically, and wiggles her eyebrows. "Face. Smooth. You see this." She points to her rosy cheeks. "This needs maintaining." I roll my eyes.
"Then go forth baby face guru." She smiled and batted her eyelashes. She was trying to look cute, not appealing but cute. It was in a friendly way, a nice way. So I smiled.
"Like I said- 60 minutes." She disappeared behind the white marble door.

I woke up around 11:00 am. My head wasn't pounding as much as as I thought it would be. Ashley was up, laying next to me.
"Hayley he's sleeping...Okay... Whatever...." she placed her phone down on the glass bedside table.
"Morning." she turned to me and smiled. "I'm guessing you heard that conversation between me and your girlfriend."
"She's not my girlfriend." I saw a small smile creep up onto Ashley's face, much like my sister- a witty remark was coming.
"Does she know that?" There it was. I threw my cushion at her legs. "Okay. Okay sorry." I laughed with her. "You know I think this is the beginning of a great friendship." she smiled lightly before jumping up off the bed. "Now get up, my parents are at work but my brothers in his room."
"What time is it?" She grabbed her phone and checked the time. "10:57" What!? "Before you panic, there's no school today. An emergency text got sent out this morning."
"Okay." I groaned into her silk pillow. "I should get up."
"Yes you should" she walked behind her dressing screen and began unzipping her pink onesie. It was soon flung over the wooden panel. "and quickly before Hayley has my head."
"You make her sound like the queen of hearts- she's not that bad."
"Yeah to you." she wondered from behind the wood, dressed in only her jeans and small black bra. I turned, I looked to her, I looked away. It didn't turn me on, it didn't make me uncomfortable. It was just...
"So why exactly do you feel its okay to strip in front of me?" There was a slight playful tone in my voice, something told me I wouldn't have to worry about Ashley taking me the wrong way.
"Don't take this as offensive." she grabbed the white blouse that was hanging in her wardrobe. "But I kinda see you as a gay best-" my face dropped "Broth- distant cousin." she pulled on a top. " All I'm saying is that I don't look at you in that way."
"So what's happened between now and the party? Cause you were definitely into me. I mean come on." She shot me an unimpressed look.
"I don't know, seeing a guy fart in his sleep and drool on my silk pillows, kind of changes a woman's perspective of a man." I smile. She smiles back.
"You should go." her phoned pinged on the bed.
"Yeah." I flashed a smile towards Ashley. "Don't miss me too much."
