Carrot cake...

Her lips were soothing and punishing, a lot like her. There was a sharp painful tingle when we kissed. I loved it. My eyes were closed but every other sense was heightened.
I could feel her hands in mine now.
I could smell the coffee on her breath.
I could hear my heart beating. Faster and faster.
My tongue danced on her bottom lip but she wouldn't open. I nibbled lightly and she gasped. I smiled. She smiled. And then it was over. She pulled away and sat down. I followed suit. There was a moment of silence, of remembrance- and then we laughed. I looked at her and she looked at me and we laughed.
"That was..."
"Yeah." She agreed and I smiled wider.
"Should we?" I pointed to the door.
"Definitely ." She agreed and I put 20 dollars down on the table and grabbed her hand.
"Wait." She stopped in front of our food, took a spoonful of the carrot cake and fed it to me. It was good, really good.
"You were right, to die for." I looked into her eyes. She knew what I was about to do, she didn't stop me. My lips connected with hers. Her hands traveled down my stomach and lay on the rim of my jeans. I took in a sharp breath. She giggled and placed her forehead against mine.
"I should probably be getting home." She spoke softly, almost out of breath.
"Yeah." I agreed but I didn't move. Neither did she.

The car ride home was more like a sing along. Whatever came on the radio was eventually drowned out by my passionate vocal impressions and Hayley's hearty laugh. She soon pulled over outside my house.

"I feel like this should be the other way round. Me saying goodnight to you."

"Okay then." She turned to me, still smiling. "I'll be you." She put on a deep voice and pushed out her chest." I had a really great time tonight Hayley." Her hand came to mine. "Thanks." She was holding back a laugh. We both were.

"Anytime Montgomery." My voice was high, sweet. Nailed it.

"I do not sound like that." She was out of the act now and laughing her words.

"Are you sure?" I twirled my hair. This was a great impression.

"Yes I'm sure." She hit my arm.

"Okay." The voice was still on. She went to hit me again but I caught her arm, and then her other hand. My eyebrows raised.

"Bad move Rhys." . I leant in, so close I could almost taste her.

"Ahhh smell the coffee breath." I blew air into her face and tickled her sides. She squirmed in the chair and soon enough the whole vehicle was filled with her laughter.

"Stop."

"No."

"Stop"

"No."

"Stop right now Ryan or I'll-" she began laughing again. I guess she called me Ryan when she was trying to be serious.
"What? Huh Rhys. What will you do?" She laughed harder and leant over to me. Almost in a blink her lips were on mine.
"Kiss you." She breathed out.

I couldn't figure this one out. The look she now wore. There was so much I had to learn about her.

"Did you mean what you said in the cafe, about me ripping your heart out?" She asked.

"Every word. Not that I exactly want you to kill me." She laughed " but if that's what it takes?"

"What it takes to do what?"

"This. To be with you." I pecked her lips. "Kiss you. See the real Hayley no one else knows."

"I'm not that great."

"No. You're better." She smiled, and I thought she'd kiss me one last time but she got out the car. I followed and when I closed the door she wrapped her arms around me, the side of her face lay on my heart. I wondered if she could hear it beat. I nuzzled my head into the side of her neck. We stayed that way for some time. Still. Together. Then Hayley sneezed. It was more of a high pitch whine.
"That was the cutest thing ever." I pulled away from her neck and laughed. She pulled me in for one last kiss, her hands on the rim of my trousers standing on her tiptoes.
"Goodnight Montgomery." She walked back into her car and drove off.
I could feel it, this was it. The end of the beginning. The starting point. Here comes a new era.

.....X.....
I didn't leave my house on Tuesday, instead I was on the phone to Hayley. I texted her at least once an hour. If we were busy it'd be a picture of whatever we were doing, if we weren't conversations branched into anything, we were in a comfortable vicious cycle. I didn't mind.

Hayley: Are you carving candy floss??

Me: Why?? Did you get a new flavoured lip gloss..

Hayley:☺️ stop... I'm blushing

Me: 😆 I'm smiling....

Hayley: hot dogs?

Me: what???

Hayley:Are you craving hot dogs?

Me: Where are you going with this?😏

Hayley: smh. No.. actual hot dogs... how do you feel about going out of town next week?

Me: with you?

Hayley: duh.

Me: Always.

Hayley: 🙂 Good.. we're going to a funfair...

Me: Will there be a Ferris wheel?

Hayley: Yep

Me: Sounds perfect then

Hayley: were you planning to do something on this Ferris wheel??

Me: maybe.

Hayley: like?

Me: You'll see...

Hayley: really....

Me: I'll give you a sample tomorrow

Hayley: What's tomorrow?

Me: I'm taking you out

Hayley: Where?

Me: it's a surprise

Hayley: and...

Me: and?

Hayley: nothing..

Me: oh... and it's a date... a big sloppy first date

Hayley:😘 you got there in the end...

Me: what you up to?

Hayley: Netflix

Me: doesn't your work start at 3

Hayley: oh shit.

Me: it's 2:30

Hayley: oh shit okay gtg.. gotta get dressed x

I smiled and put my phone down. It was small conversations like this that I came accustomed to. 5 minutes every hour. 5 fleeting minutes.
