By the time we got off acceleration my head was pounding, I was partially deaf and absolutely starved.
"What's the time?"
"Uh It's 10:00 babe." Dan and Grace had this odd comfortability with each other. It's something me and Hayley have both noticed, we've decided-We totally ship them.
"Do we have time to get something to eat?"
"I'll drive threw McDonald's." She beamed up at me.
"Awesome."
The car ride home was much quieter, I think everyone was really tired. Dan practically collapsed in my car and Grace fell asleep on his shoulder.
"What's your favourite book?"
"Huh." Hayley tore her gaze from the passing houses and looked at me.
"Favourite book?" She smiled "It's a hard one, weirdly I love tragedies. I love Malorie Blackman- her noughts and crosses series made me cry. Nonstop." She stopped for a second. She was thinking, and then she began "But my favourite book must have been, umm. One about a butterfly, it was the very first book I ever read. I don't really remember the name but I read it a lot when I was little. It kinda started this whole obsession for me. I brought it to school when I was younger and I lost it there, must've cried so much that day." I remembered the book from the picture. Maybe I could get that for her.
"What about you?"
"Well favourite book: to kill a mockingbird- always." She smiled, I guess she approved "but plays- I surprisingly loved Inspector calls-"
"Oh my gosh yes. I thought I'd hate it because I hate most things in the curriculum- but not this."
"Okay so favourite colour?"
"White."
"White? Where's the fun in that?"
"Shut up." She hit my arm.
"No, you can't abuse the driver what if I swerved off the road?"
"Then I'd die a happy woman." I looked to her then back ahead. "Today was fun."
"I think so to." There was a small pause.
"What about you?
"What about me what?"
"Favourite colour."
"Oh blue of course." She rolled her eyes and flicked her hair.
"I wonder why."
"This girl I dated."
"Do go on."
"She has brilliant blue eyes."
"My eyes are brown."
"Yes they are." I saw what I was saying click and her face dropped.
"Your favourite colour is blue because you ex has fucking blue eyes."
"Yep." I held back a smile. She scanned my face and let out a breath.
"Haha very funny." I laughed now.
"You should have seen your face."
"It's not funny."
"It is."
"Whatever."
"Awww was someone jealous."
"No." Her cheeks were a bright red.
"Your blushing."
"I'm not." She covered her cheeks with both hands.
"It's okay. It's cute." My laughs were reduce to a smile. She slowly dragged her hands away from her face and laughed.
"Pull over."
"What why?"
"Pull over." I parked in the McDonald's lot. She wasn't speaking, just staring at me.
"What's wrong?" Her eyes laughed but she just nibbled on her bottom lip. My gaze moved down to her mouth.
"I want to try something." She pulled me close, away from the steering wheel. Her hands were on my shoulder and she pushed me back slightly. Her legs stretched over the hand clutch and she sat down on my legs. Straddling my waist and moving her hands into my hair. She lifted herself higher and I placed my hands on her ass.
"What are you doing?"
"I want to kiss you." She didn't take her eyes off of mine- her words were all the incentive I needed. I placed my kisses on her neck, sucking and nibbling lightly. I wasn't sure where this was going. We weren't going to go too far with both Dan and Grace now sleeping in the back.
"Keep going." It was barely a whisper, just two words that escaped in between a moan. My kisses traveled up towards her jaw.
"God just kiss me Montgomery." She smiled and pulled my face to hers. It wasn't slow. It was fast and filled with static. She moved her hips slightly, pushing me into the seat with her kiss. I moved the hair out of her face and pushed back but my head met the chair once again.
God.
Her hands ran up and down my spine and curled round my waist.
"We should stop." I rushed all the words out at once. We should stop. I didn't want to. I kissed her again and she rocked her hips back and forth.
Fuck.
"You're right." She tugged at my hair and we didn't stop kissing.
"We can't. We can't." I held her face in my hands and took my time to breathe. I could still taste her in my mouth and it took everything I had not to kiss her again.
"I know." She said. "Not yet." I kissed her on the forehead and she went to sit back in her seat. I started the car and drove by McDonald's. We ordered four cheese burger meals. I didn't say much till we were out of the drive through.
"It's 10:30. I should get you home on time." I looked up to see Hayley smirking. Her head was down, and she was stifling a laugh.
"What?"
"Nothing." She laughed again. And looked down to my pants. "It's just nice to know I have such an effect on you." I smiled.
"You know I think it's so unfair that men get boners and women don't. I mean you should have a tell- tell sign."
"We do?" She raised an eyebrow.
"I mean a visible one." I rolled my eyes.
"I guess we're just the superior gender." She unwrapped her cheeseburger and went to take a bite.
"No." I dragged it out of her mouth.
"What the hell?"
"No girl of mine eats the burger before the chips." I glanced away from the road and quickly wrapped the bun back up again.
"Really?"
"Yes really. Show a little restraint, my god."
"You're good at that aren't you?"
She snatched the burger form me and placed it in the bag, took out the chips and ate them. I smiled.
"Good girl."
******
"Okay we have arrived." I pulled up into Hayley's drive way: 10:43. Dan and Grace were awake now, both of them eating in the back.
"Thanks for the ride Ryan." Grace went to pat my shoulder but Dan caught her hand.
"Don't touch another man, what are you trying to make me jealous?" Grace snorted.
"You're not funny Dan."
"Yes I am Grace." He followed her out of the car. They hugged at the door before I saw her disappear into her house.
"My turn to say goodbye." Hayley leaned over to hug me. "Have a nice cold shower Montgomery." Her breath clung to my ear before she leaned away and walked up to her house.
"A hug." Dan clambered into the front seat. "All night I've been charming that girl and what's my result, a hug."
I laugh.
"Well, that's the Rhys for ya. Perfectly imperfect."
