In Godric's Hollow, young Harry is holding flowers. He and his Aunt Petunia are staring at a gravestone covered with them. She tells him to drop the flowers so they can leave. Confused, Harry asked if his parents had any other friends or relatives. Aunt Petunia says that she is their only living relative, and that his parents were too obnoxious to have friends. Harry then asks why their grave was covered with flowers. Petunia says that it must have been the wind. Then the voice of Voldemort returns. As Aunt Petunia pulls young Harry away from the graveyard, the hand of Voldemort rises from the ground until his entire body is revealed. Harry starts to leave just as Albus "bursts from within Voldemort's cloak" and "reaches out a desperate hand" toward him. Harry's dream begins to fade amid a scream. The hissing voice of Voldemort calls out his name.

He wakes in bed. Ginny claims that Harry was screaming. The dreams haven't stopped. And they must mean something, because he never went to Godric's Hollow with his Aunt Petunia. Additionally, he saw Albus with Voldemort.

In the Slytherin Dormitory at Hogwarts, Scorpius wakes Albus in bed. He tells him that Rose kicked him in the shin when he tried to hug her, but that he wasn't too upset about it. Scorpius expresses gratitude that they are back in this version of the present. Albus admits how stupid they were, and that if it weren't for Scorpius, the entire wizarding world would be filled with evil.

Scorpius says that he did help, because Snape told him to think about Albus in order to "occupy his thoughts" during the dementor attack. So, it was as if they were fighting together. They both agree that they should never use time travel again. In that case, Scorpius needs Albus to help him destroy the Time-Turner, which he pulls from his pocket. Scorpius lied about losing it in the lake, because he didn't trust the Ministry to destroy it since they had kept it once, and might do so again.

Now at Hogwarts, Harry and Ginny enter the Slytherin dormitory looking for Albus, but Craig Bowker Jr. stops them, saying that they need special permission from the Headmistress to enter the dormitory. Suddenly, McGonagall appears and tells him to step aside. Harry and Ginny check the beds for Albus and Scorpius, only to find them empty. McGonagall starts to look for the boys when Harry tells Ginny that he argued with their son earlier. Ginny tells Harry that the more mistakes he makes, the harder it becomes to forgive him.

Albus and Scorpius are in the Owlery, thinking of the different spells they could use to destroy the Time-Turner. Suddenly, Delphi appears. Albus had sent her an owl, telling her to come join them. He explains that they are going to destroy the Time-Turner. Saving Cedric means the Dark Lord will rise once again. Delphi says that Cedric would have understood, suggesting they should destroy the Time-Turner together. She will explain to her Uncle why they couldn't save his son. After Albus hands her the Time-Turner, he notices a black tattoo of a bird on her back. She explains that it is an Augury: a sinister-looking black bird that cries when rain is coming. Wizards used to believe an Augury could predict death. When Delphi was growing up, her guardian, Euphemia Rowle, used to keep one in a cage and told her that the bird was crying because she was going to die. Her guardian didn't love her, she only wanted her for the money. Albus asks why she tattooed herself with that bird and Delphi explains that it reminds her that the future is hers to make. Scorpius recalls that the Rowle family were Death Eaters and, suddenly not trusting her, tells Delphi to hand back the Time-Turner. He explains that they referred to some dark force as the Augury in the alternate universe. Delphi takes out her wand and binds Scorpius. He tells Albus to run, but she stops him. They ask her why she's been manipulating them, and she snaps their wands in half. Delphi is going to remake the future.

Ron and Hermione discuss the alternate reality. Ron is shocked to learn that he and Hermione weren't married after so many years together. This makes him want to remarry her again in front of his children (and this time, sober). Harry, Ginny, and Draco enter the scene and tell them that Harry had another dream and that Albus and Scorpius are missing again. Hermione says that she will send out the Aurors. Ron shares that he saw them. He was having a drink with Professor Longbottom in Hogsmeade and spotted Albus near the Owlery with Scorpius and an older girlfriend. Harry asks about the color of her hair and Ron says it was silver and blue. Harry realizes that Ron is referring to Delphi, the niece of Amos Diggory.

Harry and Draco walk into St. Oswald's with their wands pointed at Amos Diggory and demand to know the location of their sons. Harry accuses Amos of using his son, but the man is confused. He doesn't know what they are talking about. Harry and Draco don't believe him, because he's been sending owls to the boys, but he denies doing such a thing. Harry says that they were last seen in a Hogwarts tower with his niece. Amos stops him. He doesn't have a niece. He and his wife don't have any brothers or sisters.

Delphi leads Albus and Scorpius to the Quidditch pitch, where the third task of the Triwizard Tournament had once been held. She plans to take them both back in time to save Cedric again, in order to resurrect the alternate universe Scorpius had experienced. Since the first two tasks are apparently unstable, she plans to bring them all to the third, where Cedric met his end. He will be humiliated and lose - even if it takes him flying out of the maze naked on a broomstick covered with purple feathers - since being humiliated is what turned him into a Death Eater. Albus tells her that the only way he is going to do such a thing is if she controls him with the Imperius Curse. But Delphi says that for some reason it must be him, not a puppet, so she takes out her wand. Albus says that he's ready to die, so she points it at Scorpius instead and begins torturing him. Delphi will stop when he agrees to help her humiliate Cedric. Then Craig Bowker Jr. runs onto the Quidditch pitch. Everyone has been looking for Albus and Scorpius. Albus tells him to get help. So, Delphi turns her wand on Craig Bowker Jr. and kills him.

Delphi is through playing games. She knows that Albus has a weakness similar to his father's: friendship. If Albus refuses to do what she says, Scorpius will die, just like Craig Bowker Jr. and Cedric Diggory. Voldemort will return and the Augury will stand beside him, just like some recent prophecy states, "When spares are spared, when time is turned, when unseen children murder their fathers, then will the Dark Lord return." Apparently, the spare refers to Cedric and the unseen child is Albus killing his father by changing the past.

The Time-Turner begins spinning and transports them back in time.

They arrive at the final task of the Triwizard Tournament. Without wands, Scorpius and Albus are helpless. Scorpius tells Albus that he is ready to die if it will stop Voldemort from returning, but Albus reminds him that the Time-Turner has a time limit. All they have to do is delay Delphi for five minutes. Albus and Scorpius start running through the moving hedge maze. Then Delphi enters by flying without a broom, apparently demonstrating her power. She tells them they only have two minutes. They resist her orders and she tells them that the prophecy must be fulfilled. Scorpius tells her that prophecies can apparently be broken or prevented. Delphi starts torturing him to prove to Albus that she means business, until she is struck from behind by Cedric Diggory, who thought the scene was a challenge as part of the Triwizard task. He frees the boys and returns to the challenge. Before he leaves, Albus tells Cedric that his father loves him very much. As Cedric runs off towards victory, Delphi takes out the Time-Turner and begins spinning it, but Albus and Scorpius manage to grab the device. They arrive at an unknown time in an unknown location. Delphi tells them that she agrees with Scorpius that prophecies can be broken or prevented, so she destroys the Time-Turner and flies away, trapping them all in the past.

Harry, Ginny, Hermione, Ron, and Draco explore Delphi's room at St. Oswald'sHome for Old Witches and Wizards. Harry claims that Delphi had been using the Confundus Charm on Amos, so she could act as his niece. Hermione reports that the Ministry had no record of her existence. They begin searching her room when Ginny unscrews an oil lamp which reveals a chimney. They hear hissing words, spoken in Parseltongue. Ginny asks Harry what it means. He reminds them that after Voldemort's death, he can't speak Parseltongue. Hermione reminds him that his scar didn't hurt either, but now it does. Harry tries again. He now understands that it means "Welcome, Augury." Harry closes his eyes and begins speaking. The room transforms, revealing the prophecy Delphi recited, written with fluorescent paint on the walls. The wall then reveals "I will rebirth the Dark. I will bring my father back." They are all terrified now. Voldemort had a daughter named Delphi.
