Although you had lived with your mutation all your life, you could not control it for the life of you, however, your best friend, Charles Xavier, offered to help you, for nothing in return.

"Alright, darling," he said softly, taking your hand in his. "Try and get into my mind."

"Charlie," you whispered, looking into the pools of compassionate cyan. "I can't possibly do that."

"Yes you can," he reassured, squeezing your hand gently. "Just try."

"But-"

"Do it," he raised his eyebrows and smiled reassuringly at you. "Trust me."

"Alright," you sighed, closing your eyes and entering your best friend's mind; you saw images of you and him, old memories, fantasies that you wouldn't dare to dip into out of fear that they were far from your own, you soon delved into trying to control a part of his mind, manipulate him into saying or doing something, but you couldn't, you didn't want to risk your friendship with him. "I can't do more than that, not to you."

"I'm giving you permission," he chuckled softly, running his thumb over your knuckles. "Do it, (Y/N)."

"I can't," you whispered, shaking your head. "Not to you."

"Well," he said softly, still gazing up at you. "We can work on it again tomorrow, alright?"

"Alright."

The next day, Charles tried to get you to manipulate him into doing something simple, like making a cup of tea, and although it felt wrong, you did try, but soon, you had to stop and take a break, knowing that if you had carried on then perhaps you would have made him do something against his will.

"You alright, darling?" He asked, handing you a cup of tea and giving you a compassionate smile, you nodded slowly.

"Yeah," you sighed, taking the cup and gulping half of it down. "Charlie, can I ask you something?"

"You just did," he joked, you chuckled quietly and bit down on your lip. "You know you can ask me anything, (Y/N)."

"Why are you helping me?" You asked quietly, looking your best friend in the eyes.

"Because you're my friend," he said softly, although there was a tinge of disappointment laced within his gentle voice. "And because you need to learn how to control your mutation."

"There's not an ulterior motive, like getting me to join the X-Men or something?"

"No, not at all."

"Okay," you nodded and licked your lips. But, before you could do anything, you lost control and accidentally got into Charles' mind, controlling him effectively. "Please, tell me the truth."

"I love you," he said, and suddenly you snapped out of his mind with a shake of your head; furrowing your brows, your jaw dropped and you stuttered out a string of apologies that only made your best friend chuckle and shake his head softly. "No need to be sorry, darling, I've been meaning to tell you that for a while."

"Charles," you whispered, his name sounding almost weird coming from your mouth after all the years you had spent calling him 'Charlie'. "Y-you love me?"

"I do," he smiled, freely admitting it. "I love you, (Y/N)."

"I... I love you too, Charlie," you grinned, daring to peck his cheek quickly. "I love you."

"Well I hope that ABBA song you love so much has meaning now," he joked, visibly blushing.

"It's had meaning since we were fifteen," you grinned, also blushing. "Do me a favour?"

"Anything."

"Lay all your love on me." You both laughed loudly at that, but once the laughter had died down, you pressed your lips to his sweetly.
