Erik had more than his fair share of problems, but he always put them aside to help you with yours; as a mutant with the ability to communicate with animals but nothing else, you were often outcasted by others, except Erik.
"Why are you crying?" He asked gently, sitting beside you on the bed and reassuringly holding you. "Who hurt you?"
"There's something wrong with me," you sniffled, wiping your nose on your sleeve. "Nobody hurt me, Erik, but I know there's something wrong with me."
"There is nothing wrong with you," he growled between gritted teeth. "And anyone who says there is can go fuck themselves. You, (Y/N), are perfect the way you are. Who cares if you can't fly, claw people to death or control minds? You have a far greater gift."
"I do?" You looked up at him, tear stained cheeks, red and puffy eyes.
"Yes," he said, staring into your eyes. "You're far better than anyone."
"Thanks, Erik," you mumbled, cracking a smile and putting your head on his shoulder. "Y'know, if it weren't for you, I dunno what I'd have done."
"Crash and burn," he teased with a small smirk. "Crash and burn."
