Charles knew you believed that he didn't love you and he knew he had never said the three words. But he realised that he should, because he did love you, immensely; so he called you into his office, sat you on his lap and sighed.

"You don't love me, do you?" You asked quietly, sadly, Charles sighed again.

"After everything we've been through, you still don't think that I love you?" His voice was soft and almost hurt, which made you shake your head.

"No," you sighed, getting off of his lap and sitting on the desk in front of him. "Charles, I know you don't."

"Nonsense," he scoffed, gently taking your hand in his. "I do love you, (Y/N), I know I don't say it, and I should. But I'm saying it now. I love you."

"You're only saying that because-"

"No," he looked at you sternly and you could see the honesty in his eyes. "I, Charles Xavier, love you, (Y/N) (Y/L/N). I love you."

"You do?" You asked quietly, wanting to be sure, Charles smiled and nodded.

"I do," he said, rubbing his thumb across your knuckles softly. "I love you, darling."

"I love you too." You said after a few poisonous seconds of silence.

"I'm sorry I never said it before. I realise now I should have."

"It's alright. You've said it now, and I couldn't be happier, because now I can say that Charles Xavier loves me." You grinned, kissing him gently, making sure to pour each and every little ounce of love and devotion into it.

"And in return," he chuckled softly upon pulling away. "I can say (Y/N) (Y/L/N) loves me."
