Sophie was working a half day today and I was picking her up at 12 and we were driving down to Georgia to see my Mama and daddy. We were staying at my Mamas Friday through to Monday because Sophie needs to be back at work on Tuesday I have a benefit show at the Opry on Tuesday night. Sophie packed the bags this morning so we didn't have to back to my place to collect anything.
I arrived at Sophie's work at 1245 and waited for her coming out. Twenty minutes later I saw her coming out with Sarah.
"Hey baby" I said getting out the truck and walking over to her kissing her cheek
"Hey" she said blushing
"Hey Sarah, how you doing" I asked
"All the better after seeing your pretty face sweetheart" she said laughing. My face went bright red "You better keep my little Sophie happy Mr, or you will have me to answer to" she said more seriously
"Don't worry ma'am I ain't gonna upset this one again. She is my life. I love her" I said putting my arm round Sophie
"I love you to baby" she said
"Well that's all I need to hear" Sarah said
We chatted for a little while longer and I said
"Baby we are gonna have to head, mama is expecting us for supper" I said
"Sophie I will see you on Saturday and good luck with mama" she said laughing
"My mama is just gonna love her" I said opening the door and helping Sophie in.
"Oh Sarah, why don't you come with Sophie to the Opry Tuesday night in performing at a benefit for St Jude's" I said
"I would love to. See you Tuesday" she said
We drove off waving to Sarah
"So y'all ready to meet my mama" I asked
"Is really nervous to be honest. What if she don't like me" she asked
"Sophie she will love you. I talk about you all the time. She knows everything about you" I said taking her hand and kissing her knuckles.
"I hope so" she said looking out the window
It would take a good few hours to get to Mamas so I told Sophie she could take a nap in the way down.
As we crossed the 32 bridge I woke Sophie up
"Baby we are almost here"
"Mmmmm I'm up" she said sleepily
I pulled up outside my house and Mama appeared on the porch.
"Don't worry baby. She will love you"
