Sophie and I are on our way down to Georgia to Caroline's mama and daddies place. I don't know how it's going to go as I ain't seen them since Caroline and I split.
"Luke honey you can go alone to there place as I don't want to upset them more with you turning up with me"
"Ok as long as you are sure. What will you do"
"I will just wait at the hotel for you"
We pulled up outside the Marriott and Luke helped me upstairs with the bags
"I won't be long baby, we can go out for dinner when I get back. Are you sure you are going to be ok"
"Yes baby I will be. Are you going to be ok"
"I will be fine. Love you" He said as he went out.
I went down to the truck and made my way to Caroline's parent house. I was so nervous I didn't know what kinda reception I was going to get.
I pulled up outside the house and turned of the engine. I took a deep breath and headed towards the house. I knocked on the door and Caroline's mama opened it
"Luke is that really you"
"Hi ma'am yeah it's me and I am really sorry for your loss"
She started crying really hard and I pulled her into a hug
"Come in" she said closing the door.
We went through to the living room and her daddy was sitting in the chair with a photo of Caroline in his hand
"Waylon, Luke's here" her mama said
"Where is my grandson" he snapped
"He is at home in Tennessee sir"
"He should be here with family boy with someone who abandoned him most of his god damn life"
"Waylon please don't start. Caroline never told him about Thomas" her mama said
"I don't give a damn, he should be here" he shouted
"I should go. I came down to offer my condolences in person but maybe I should have stayed away." I said
"You got that right Mr hotshot singer" He slurred
I then noticed he had been drinking
"Sorry sir. I was wondering if I could get a key to Caroline's place and get some of Thomas's things" I said
"No you can't and if you think you are coming to the funeral then you got that wrong"
Her mama was trying to calm him down he was obviously drunk.
"Luke I think you should go" she said
"I'm so sorry" I said walking towards the door
On the way out her mama said
"Luke I'm so sorry I will speak to him and of course you can come to the funeral, you should be there for Thomas. Also I will meet you at Caroline's place and you can get some of Thomas's things"
"Thank you very much ma'am and for the record I'm dying on the inside I did truly love Caroline when we where together but circumstances changed we changed. I also want you to know that Sophie and I are expecting so Thomas will be a big brother"
"Oh sweetheart that Is Fantastic"
"SARAH" Waylon yelled
"I better go. Give me half an hour."
I have her a hug and headed out to my truck and made my way to Caroline's.
